Easter Facts

Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.

Here's the interesting info. This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years old or above!). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here's the facts:

1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2160 (153 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!).

2) The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!

Don't let him kid you gang! He gets as many emails as I do apparently and I've got this one about 6 times in the last two days! Interesting info however! Wonder if any of us will be around for the next one!

Hey! I resemble that smart remark!

It's also on www.snopes.com. Just search for Easter.

Edited: Besides, I'm just here to learn, entertain, pass on information, and humor folks!

No! You were correct. But I was lucky, I only received it once, today!

Actually, I think Easter is based on the Ecclesiastical Vernal Equinox, which always falls on March 21st. Therefore, Easter needs to be celebrated between the dates of March 22nd to April 25th

That still doesn't explain just how old the Easter bunny is

And here I always thought it was three days after the ground hog saw his shadow. Just kidding. We were in Americus, GA last year for Easter. When Pres Jimmy Carter is in Plains he teaches the Bible study at the sunday service. First time we have attended a Baptist Church Service. Pres Carter explained this method of when Easter occurs. Quite an experience we never anticipated during our travels. Isn't this country great. Give it a try if you are ever in Americus. Doors open at 8:30 and you go through Secret Service security and the rules of decorum are strict and clearly explained. Bible study is at 10, service at 11 and then at 12 Pres Carter and Roselyn will have their picture taking with you. We stayed at Brickyard Plantation RV Park. Nothing spectacular, but with PPA was on 12.50/night and they have a 27 hole golf course that cost a whopping $5 a day for all the golf you can do walking. Keep all 8 on the road.

One story goes:
"The Easter Bunny is not a modern invention. The symbol originated with the pagan festival of Eastre. The goddess, Eastre, was worshiped by the Anglo-Saxons through her earthly symbol, the rabbit.

The Germans brought the symbol of the Easter rabbit to America. It was widely ignored by other Christians until shortly after the Civil War. In fact, Easter itself was not widely celebrated in America until after that time."

circa 1500 A.D.

Awww! The Internet is so full of phony stories, even I can't decide which one is correct. For all I know, the Easter Bunny is just one of those voices in my head!

Sometimes, when I'm thinking, the little man takes a walk to the back of the head somewhere and I have to wait until he comes out before I can answer the question. Gets frustrating. One day my wife will drop me off at the mall, and leave me there. I hope it's a good mall.

JimnJulie,
For my grandkids, the easter bunny is 66 years old, but they don't know that.

The most popular conception is that the Easter Bunny will be 508 years old this coming Easter. However, there is one myth that easter appears in text as early as the 5th Century, and one myth that states 7th Century. I'll let you do the math.

You know, there are certain species that the male provides the offspring. Now I would think in the Bunny's instance, the woman would like to leave ALL that up to the mail. But I could be wrong. Who knows, maybe it's a combined effort and we never really found out.

But I will tell you this. Most women will find out after the second child (er bunny) what caused it. As soon as they do, you are done. Now for all thos with more than two, consider yourselves lucky!!!

I think BigMurf is on to something!
