How lucky I am!

I was sitting around the table this evening with a group of folks I am blessed to call, my friends. We were discussing various topics throughout the evening and I just can't help myself, but I usually bring up something that has to do the either the MOC or the members; which I like to call my MOC family and friends. Often times I start talking about the travels of my own, or of the many pictures and diaries on all the blogs that I follow EVERY EVENING! (You know who you are!) Tonight one of the gals pulled out a letter that we all wrote during our senior year of high school. My 10 year reunion is coming up this summer, and ironically the letter we had written was titled, "where will we be in 10 years from now." Why she actually kept this letter is beyond me, but she had it. I will skip all the elaborate details, but sum it up with this... I am not sure if I am ahead or behind where I thought I should be at this stage in my life, but none the less here I am. As the evening went on, I really started thinking about "where I am". You know I hate to say this, but I often times take for granted who I am, where I come from and what I have. I owe everything to my folks for making me the person I am today. My point is; I do not know any other 28 year old adults who has done the things I have done, been to places I have been, and had the luxury to own not only 1, but 2 Montana's. Often times on this forum and in our own "warp speed" life we forget to stop and look at all the blessing we have. I am a pretty lucky fella, and I wanted to stop for a moment and thank each and every one of you for having a part in my life. It has truly been one amazing ride and I am fortunate to be a part of this...

What a great post!
To read of your appreciation of things at your age is rare. Usually, life is at such a fast pace that many don't look up to smell the roses until they have gray hair and then wondered what happened to the time.

Thanks for the reminder...

Looking forward to meeting you Dave. I, also, enjoy reading your posts and I still have not given up on Spokane. Will be down there this summer for sure. Maybe you can give me the "cooks tour" of your city.

See you this summer!!!!!!!

Great post, Dave. I have been told that we all should have a "Goal List" and a "Grateful List" that we reference EVERY day. Need to find both those lists again. Thanks for the reminder.

You are a good friend, Dave.

Dave,

What a wonderful thought, definitely something your parents should be very proud that they raised a son who is capable of appreciating the best things in life.

My father recently passed, and I do miss him, but the best memories I have of "us" were the times laughing together, sharing our worldly experiences, and saying "I love you", at the close of every phone conversation. I'll never forget those rare words between a father and his son.

In my life, I hope to be able to pass on the importance of the quality of our lives to my sons with what is most important to us all as your parents have done.

You and your parents are very fortunate.

Even though I am twice your age, thank you for your sage advice on how very precious every moment of life can be, and that we should never waste it. We are very lucky too!

Another future friend,

Robbie

Dave, I am about 38 yrs your senior, but I have noticed the short time I have been a Moc member that by your posts, and the way you conduct yourself on here you are truely a great example of a young man with his head on straight! I remember when I became a member here the help you gave me on posting my pic, along with serveral others help also. I came up in my life not judging a man by his worldly goods, but by the way of his heart. Your post here showed that you are a great guy and would be a pleasure knowing and meeting you one day! happy and safe travels to you and yours.
