OK, someone help me out here, please. The exterior shower... I need pros and cons of this in a FT unit (you may have a differing opinion for a weekend warrior).

PRO - If you have a need to wash stuff out side it is great. Like cleaning the grill instead of bring it inside.
Grandkids around the sand great
CON - requires some special attention if used in freezing weather conditions.

I second what John said about kids tracking in the sand after playing at the lake. Didn't notice that it used much more antifreeze when getting ready for winter. Still took less than three gallons to do the whole trailer. So, I was happy. We have used ours only a handfull of times. But it still has it's place. Another I can think of is to get hot water to wash the outside of the trailer when needed. Unless you like knealing under the trailer and getting it from the low point drain.

I use my outside shower for alot of things. Washing my hands after working with sewer hose, washing dog, since I am at the lake for 6 months washing sand and dirt, used it to clean off tools and odd things I do not want to bring into the coach. I have had it on both my Mountaineer and my Montana and would not be w/o it.

What about cold weather camping? I assume this is not a heated area. Will heat radiating through the wall be enough to keep it from freezing?

Rarely use it. If it weren't there I wouldn't have missed it.

I like the outside shower for all the reasons given above. Washing the dog is one of the best things we use it for but washing sand off flip fops and sometimes you even want to wash dishes outside.Anytime you want hot or cold water ouside the trailer, you have it.
It is a low cost option and worth every penny IMO.

It is only $140 on the new option list that Ray just posted, but I was concerned, as I may be dealing with a similar yearly situation as Steve R. (and several others), being subjected to some cold weather camping.

Don't have it on my TT but WISH we did. Would keep a lot of stuff out of the TT. We camp with our grandkids a lot and they like to swin in the lake, therefore, lots of sand.

We use ours frequently for many of the uses listed already. Also great if you are somewhere without sewer hookup as the water used outdoors does not go into your holding tanks.

I put options in 2 catagories..Must have and nice to have..The outside shower is a nice to have option./We had one on our TT and maybe used it 10 times in 10 years but was glad it was there when needed, As noted above there are many and varied uses for it depending on what you do.We will probably include it on the new unit.

I have never had one, but can relate a useage I observed on the Homer Spit in Alaska a couple of year ago. Two or three men were taking a shower stripped down to their jockies. The area has public showers. I plan on ordering it, but not for a complete outside shower.

It seems that it will be great for cleaning fish coolers and gear that you don't want to take inside. We don't travel with dogs, so that is not a useage for us.

It is sort of like a left-handed monkey wrench. Only need it if you have a left-handed monkey. It is amazing how they keep showing up. Think I will keep mine.

As a few others have noted, we use it for washing dogs on occassion as well as for cleanup of stuff we don't want to bring inside.

We've been full timing for over 5 years and we've never used the outside shower. I'm sure that a lot of people find uses for it but we don't. I really don't think it is a necessity.

We are fulltimers and use our outside shower often -- washing the dog, grills from the bbq, etc.etc. Julie

I don't think of mine as a "shower" as much as I think of having access to hot water outside. I use Oxyclean a lot and being able to fill my container outside with hot water is a plus for me. I also grill a lot and, again having outside hot water is a plus.

Most recently it came in very handy when I had my black tank leak and I had easy access to hot water and soap .

Some things one doesn't necessarily use often but when the need is there it certainly is nice to have them. And the exterior shower is one of those items. You will be surprised at just how convenient some options can be. Certainly something to consider. We would order one on any new rig we might buy.

I had one on my last TT, have one on my cab over camper and have one on the Montana. We have never used any of them yet. Like some of the others have already said, it will be handy if the need arises.

We use ours to wash dog, other things that have got dirty while outside(chairs, grill, tables,etc.). This is one option we would not do without. As for freezing, according tho the pictures posted from the show,http://groups.msn.com/CouchsCampersI...oto&PhotoID=47,with the new docking station, that should not be a problem.
