Thanks for the update Glenn. I'm sure glad we got the Cambridge when we did. We had originally planned to wait until next spring. Also glad to see some of it's features making it into the standard Montana line. However, some of those features are pricy and heavy. They won't fit many Montana lifestyles.

I wonder if Mountaineers can have this mod installed. Looks like a two axle unit would run about $1000.

Bob, the retro fit information does not reference any particular brand of trailer. Looking at the animated demo at that link I don't see why it couldn't be installed on any fifthwheel or travel trailer with a standard type of suspension. I have no facts, just what I saw and read on that site.

Glenn Go to the keystone site and click on the media site. It tells there that Coleman is in charge of a new trailer that keystone is going to build. Think it is called VR1
Also the Cambridge is not listed as models they make.

Here's the quote
He also introduced Coleman Davis, lead salesperson for the VR-1, and Brian Donat, new product manager for the Hobbi, to Mayor Kauffman. Davis reports to Group Vice-president Bob Martin and Donat reports to Division General Manager Randy Graber.

Been looking at the keystone web site, they are showing a GM make short bed with the new Monty front cap in near a 90* turn. The truck is a four door with a short bed. Looks like the new cap can realy help in a tight turn!

I think it would be a fantastic idea but as options and not standard. I wouldn't want the next Monty I buy to be priced up there with the so called hi-end rigs.
Here's one Cambridge standard they can offer on the Montana and I buy it in a second.

What is behind those two inner doors?
Thanks.

The out door shower is behind the door on the left. The water manifold ( a valve and line to each outlet in the trailer) is behind the door on the right. It's been a while, but I think there is a picture with the doors open in our Cambridge review story.

Does anyone know whether short-bed pick-ups produced by different companies (Dodge, Ford, GM) all have the same dimensions with regard to turning radius and clearances? I does not seem likely that this would be the case. Which leads me to wonder if the new cap was designed with the "least clearance" short-box pick-up in mind?

Bill,
I was talking with a guy from PullRite this summer at the Great North American RV Rally and found the answer to your question is no, at least the part of dimensions of the bed. This applies to shortbed trucks as the long bed it is not an issue. The order goes as follows 1).Chevy/GMC 2). Ford 3). Dodge, in the amount of clearance between the cab and the front cap on the coach. PullRite measured the distance from the back of the cab to the center of the rear axle (where most king pins are mounted, some are 1" infront of rear axle but they did it to center to be equal to all three trucks.) I do not have EXACT numbers but recall something like 39" for the GM, 36" for the Ford and 33" for the Dodge or somewhere in those numbers. In any case the more room equals more clearance between the cab and the coach.

Montana Sky ...
Thanks for your reply. My sense is that the amount of clearance I have on my Dodge, even with the PullRite Super Glide, is not great. I could be wrong but am not convinced at the moment that the new cap would eliminate the need for a sliding hitch on Dodge TVs.

Glen:
Congratulations on the new job - By the way, who do you work for and what is your new job title? I guess I must have missed this info somewhere.
Also, can you or anyone else point out some of the advantages of the Mor-ryde suspension? I don't believe I've ever seen one of these on a fifth wheel.
Thanks,
Gary & Carole

I don't know the numbers on the bedsizes, either, but, in any case, the new front cap would be a seriously major improvement on any shortbed truck that would tow a fifthwheel. I can get a pretty sharp turn with mine and this cap would totally eliminate any need for a slider in my Ford, from what I can estimate just by looking at it. In any case, I could make some serious turns without worrying about it.
