It's gotten worse, as of yesterday, Saturday, I saw diesel posted at $3.05 AND THEN $3.07 per gallon. I'm actually having second thoughts about our trip for next week end. But if the trip is a total of 600 miles and I get an average of 12MPG, the total fuel cost is $153.50. At $2.85 per gallon it's $142.50, so I guess an extral $11 isn't enough to cry about. But we should be letting our politicians know how unhappy we are.

Here in my part of northern Ohio diesel is consistently 20 cents higher that gas..today gas 2.29.9 diesel 2.49.9.On our recent trip we noted a difference of as much as 40 cents per gal diff. I can recall that diesel was ALWAYS much less than gas.We are fortunate that we only use the TV for towing (gasser)Helen and I both drive Honda's as our everyday rides.Mine a civic 33 to 38MPG and hers a Accord 26 to 28MPG. I put 130.00 worth of Diesel fuel in the schools International bus yesterday(52 gals)..ye gads...

I thought the over the road truckers would be using their lobby muscle to bring Diesel $ down but in talking to a friend who runs a small trucking company he said everyone is just passing on the high fuel cost in the way of a "fuel surcharge" to their customers so don't look for any help there.

Diesel in Canada is still cheaper than gas but both are higher than in the US because of taxes. To me the crux of the problem is the 'regulator'(Washington). They are asleep at the switch. When crude goes up a $1.00 a barrel we get a disproportionate jump in pump prices as if it cost the refiner and distributor more to process it. Everyone is jumping in on the act to hike their percent at our expense. They all have lobbyists to smooth their way with the Washington crowd and we pay. Bottom line, the refiners and distributors are making record profits when the end user is suffering. It's the same with the banks and drug companies. Record profits, higher prices. It smacks of racketeering to me.

I am more than willing to conserve (and do) but I'd be more impressed if I saw a good example from the powers that be.

Enough of my rant... Now our next trip will be.....

Just don't understand it..Gas prices remained the same today 2.29.9 but diesel fuel went up to 2.54.9..I have a retired friend who worked for a large oil company for years and he does not understand it..execpt for good old American greed. There are a group of folks in this country that should and hopefully will go to jail for the manipulation of the oil market.

Talking about our Congress people, don't they have their gas bills paid by us like their health and life insurance? Why should they care.

This has to make you wonder!

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

29 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad checks
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is?
Give up yet?

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress.
