Level Towing
Just put Reese 18k hitch, and adapter plate, for under bed fifth wheel plate. Hooked up trailer for first time. Have 10" of clearance between bed rails and trailer. Does that sound like it to high?
Truck dropped about 1.5" in back after hitched. Put a 4 foot level on drop frame under storage area within 1/8" over 4 foot span. Hard to tell if riding high by looking at roof line, since roof is on downward slope.
Sorry 2015 F-350 DRW

10 inches is more than enough. Check with a level front to rear.

First figure out how level the road/driveway/whatever your rig is sitting on. Then figure out if your trailer has the same by measuring with a level on the kitchen area hard floor. Finally check your truck to see if it's also the same. To get everything level, you've got to level both the truck and the trailer since the hitch is sort of like a hinge in the middle of the whole thing. I check my truck by putting the level on the bed. Since it rides slightly nose down with no load, even though I've air bags, I don't put but 20 or so lbs in them to get everything right.

Mike, Had a 4 foot level on it front to rear, was out about 1/8 - 1/4" over 4 foot span. (front high ) by my calculation that should be
1.125" - 2.25" front to rear on 36' trailer.
I lower hitch by 1 hole or 1" should be close enough to level. I still have 9" of clearance.

If it needs further adjustment, don't forget you can also adjust the pin box.

I have a Reese Signature Series, and the holes raise/lower the hitch by 2" not one. Not that an inch is going to make a huge difference,
