Winter campgrounds full or not

Here at Mouse Mountain there are a lot of empty lots. We expected to see a lot of imcoming snowbirds in Jan but that has not happened.
We have been to othet C.G,s and snowbird attendance is down

Judging by the attendance at Disneyworld and the increase in tourism around here it appears the economy nation wide is up so where are the snowbirds??

In Apache Jct., Az.- The snowbirds are trickling in a few at a time- The Canadians seem to be present but the Americans are coming later than usual- JMHO- Don

Great weather for this time of year around here may be causing some to delay the trip. Surely the usual winter storms will return and when they are forecast I'd bet there will be some more hit the road.

Q is slow to fill this year also, I am not there, but talked to my brother who is there & he said they are just beginning to come in.

Not to be a downer, but, mmmmm, some of the oldies but goodies are getting to the point of either, mmmm, dying, or just cannot go anymore.

Who is there to replace them, economy is in the tanker, jobs lost by the millions, many cannot retire.

Who is going to fill those parks??

I know several Snow Bird Campers that have purchased home here in Florida including us.
We just think with escalating fuel costs and a depreciating RV it is better investment

Thinking the economy has everything to do with it. Even with the older folks that are the usual snowbirds are at home helping there kids struggle on a daily basis. Lot of grandparents now become babysitters because the kids can't afford day care anymore, etc!!! Just hope this economy makes a major turn around, but I don't see it in the near future.

Add in the cost of fuel and even the CG's going up in price has a little to do with it. Guess we could go on and on about that!!

Prices here at this campground have not gone up much in the last 4 years but all else has. If we did not work at Disney it would be a strain on our budget.
we are also looking at purchasing a lot in this area as mother nature marches on.

Rich we are in south TX and our park is not full. Brownsville paper had an article in last week's paper that said total valley occupancy was of 15-25%.

The general economy here in this part of Florida is up. Tourism is way up. Disney world attendance is way up but the snowbird population is way down. It was announced yesterday at this park that we lost due to Death 5 snowbirds since last season..

Almost full here at Canyon Vistas RV Resort in Gold Canyon, AZ, just east of Mesa and Apache Junction. The sites that are empty at this point are reserved.

LeLynn RV Resort 20+miles SW of Orlando on I4 has a number of empty slots. It is usually full by this time

The economy has a lot to do with a trip south. I thought that diesel at $2.38 a number of years ago was high, now $3.60 feels cheap. Some parks seem to raise prices every year. Prices go up but income stays flat even in investments. You would think the parks would wake up and want to fill all the sites with lower rates but that is just my nimble thinking.

We just finished 5 nights at Ft Desoto park in St Petersburg Beach. There were MANY sites available, when normally this time of year it is over flowing.

Still a few open sites over here on the Atlantic for short term as they're reserved for folks yet to arrive. Rates here the same as 2009. We've already made our reservations to return for 6 months (Nov to May)

Our park is pretty full... Still have a few in the Class A only section but the rest of our park is crowded. Same thing is happening in the sales of housing.. Sales are way up from last year while other areas in Florida are down..We used to be in a quiet district but not any more.

Campground owners may feel that with the downward trend this year they have to raise prices to match last year's income. To bad.
