TIRE AGE ?
When I replaced truck tires 2 yrs ago, the tire dealer suggested I only buy 3 and use the never used spare as the 4th. I only have 18000 miles on these tires and all in great shape, but the one that was the spare has a DOT date of 3204. So it will be 6 yrs old soon. They also used 1 of my old tires as a spare. I'm thinking I should buy 2 new tires for the rear, get rid of the 6 year old tire, and use one of the 2 yr old tires for the spare. Am I over reacting? Also the USA made Tacomas on the trailer will be 6 yrs old in Oct but look great with 10,000 miles on them. Should they be replaced due to age. All tires are load range E. The trailer weighs 12100 lbs loaded, 2800 on the pin and 9300 on the axles with tires rated at 3195 each I'm well under load capacity.

I think 6 year old tires should be replaces. Regardless of miles. They are expensive to buy but when one fails on either the truck or camper, it can be very expensive and dangerous. I am less likely to replace the spare thinking it only needs to limp me a short distance, and it is not likely to get used if I keep the other tires in good condition.
Just my opinion. I'm sure others will chime in too.

Two things I won't screw around with...tires and brakes, whether hauling or not. I guess it's up to you, being as it's your piece of mind. I just got my monty, and the tires look new...but one of the first things I'm going to do before heading out with it is check them over real well, date/weathering/etc. They look almost new, but....

I don't run my tires more than five years. Most of the time I've replaced them after four years.
