Howdy

Good afternoon!
First of all I'd like to apologize for just "blasting right by" this particular forum when I joined the MOC about 2 months ago. The wife sometimes notes that I have a habit of jumping right into something and reading the instructions later (if at all!). Anyway . . . I am Jerry Robinson (Jerry) and my bride of 41 years Sandra(Sandy) and I have just retired this year - her for sure - me, I just quit working. So, we bought the 2010 3400RL(first brand and style we looked at, and we looked at a lot), then bought a 2010 F350 dually diesel to pull it with and we're off! Some say I've been off for some time but, anyway, we're already enjoying the MOC and have learned a lot already - now if I can just stop entertaining the campers at the campgrounds as they watch me try to back in RV into the site! - 'tol you I was a rookie.
Regards,
Jerry and Sandy

Hello Rookie!

We all were rookies at one time or another so don't feel bad. Enjoy your new Montana and Ford pickup. If you can, join with many other MOC members at one of the several Rallies. The Fall is held at Goshen, IN.

The Spring Rally is being held this coming year in Texas near the end of March. There are also several regional Rallies.

All the Rallies are great places to learn first hand about your Montana as well as to meet face to face with some really great people.

Welcome to the best RV forum around. Quickest out of rookiedom is to learn from others here and of course some practice. Happy RVing...................

LOL Jerry... Thanks for introducing yourself with a funny post.

I like to say "Drive thrus are for wimps". However, I try to wimp out whenever I can. I'll admit that I'm getting pretty good at backing in, even enough to impress DW.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the MOC forum - a fine place to learn and meet great people. Last year at the Great Lakes Rally, when I backed in, the "audience" scored my by holding up their scorecards like the Olympics {No, I did not get any 10s, either)

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad to have company on the "backing into the space" stage, too. Why is it that no one is around when you have a pull-through site, but if you have to back in, there are lawn chairs and "sitters" everywhere? (OK, so Ray and Butch know one awful truth about a pull-through spot at Heceta Beach, when we pulled in, leveled, unhitched . . . and then realized our power cord wouldn't reach the pedestal. We comforted ourselves, saying we needed the hitching/unhitching practice anyway.)

Congratulations on the new rig. You're at the beginning of a wonderful experience with the MOC forum and your new toy.

Welcome to the MOC forum! The backing will come easily after some experience (good and bad, we have had both as have the other members who are not ashamed to admit it!!). We look forward to your joining in the posting whether it be questions, answers, or just tales of your camping adventures. The forum can be your primary source for all things "Montana".

You may be entertaining the other campers now, but in time some other rookie will come along and entertain you. Welcome to the forum.

Jerry,
Welcome to the forum from another electrician (not quite retired). Take your rig to a parking lot on a Sunday morning and practice all you want. I did this with my wife and now she feels better about backing. Join in on the forum and see if you can make some of the rallys this coming year. We'd love to meet you.

Welcome to the forum.

I think I can help with the backing issue. When your partner says turn right, stop get out and look. When you partner says turn left, stop (You know the rest).

Works for me anyways!
