Watch the pennies & the dollars will...do ??

I don't remember the saying....
For years I have been annoyed at the bulky change in my pockets when changing pants, or even at the end of the day. I scooped it out and dropped it in a tray on the dresser. Sue would see the tray full after a while and put it...somewhere??
She showed me today what the result of that action is. She told me that we should open a banking account at South Padre with the change. I kinda laughed and said that they would require more than a few rolls of pennies. Sue looked at me and said we have more than a few rolls of pennies. I was amazed at the $36.00 in pennies, $48.00 in nickels, $145.00 in dimes, $130.00 in quarters and 6-50 cent PCs.
AND one Susan B. Anthony Dollar. $363.00
Go figure.
Hey buddy, can you spare a quarter???

That's tooo funny Ozz, I do the same thing. Over the years this spare change has funded some pretty neat stuff such as televisions, cameras, guns, etc. It's amazing at how quick it adds up.

funny you should bring your penny jar up! we just tipped our pennies from the over-flowing canning jar on the dresser into an empty paint can. we separated out the "big stuff" (quarters, dimes, etc) and found out we have a lot more than a few rolls of pennies also. of course, our first thots for spending it go to time in the 5ver

My mother used to say "Take care of your pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves." I really believe there is much truth in that saying.

I've been doing the same, since I quit smoking 30 years ago. That was one of the tricks used by the smoke-ender program...put the price of a pack of cigarettes in jar each day. I just continued doing it with my loose change and I've bought a lot of toys with that money!

Our change too gets collected, but the quarters all end up as laundry quarters. As full timers w/o washer & dryer there is always a need for laundry quarters. A couple of times a year we need to supplement the fund with a few rolls of quarters from the casino, but otherwise this extra change takes care of our laundry expense.

Ha! I stopped by the bank and told them Sue had rolled all that change for them.....the teller told me they don't take rolled change, has to be loose.
Check those Murphy's laws list's for me , maybe that one is in there.
Go figure once more.

Bank here in Tessessee will not take change loose. Must be rolled. Go figure. They just started taking quarters from my BIL's vending machine operation. They will only take them in $500.00 bags.

Rex and Mary,
That is exactly what DW used to use the "change fund" for also. Now that we moved up to the 3400 with the stackables, I have no idea what she is doing with it. I do know that it still keeps disappearing from the nightly deposit basket in the kitchen. Inquiring minds want to know. Maybe Santa will be nice this year???? Wishful thinking perhaps, but I have been regularly dropping hints about a 32" HD LCD for the 3400 basement. I know it sounds odd, but I watch the tube more outside than inside!!

My loose change alone (DW spends hers) amounts to about $400-$500 per year and helps pay for our "extras" during our vacation.

Stuffed my loose change in a 5-gallon water bottle for years.....had to move, bad plan. Spent several hours just picking up change after the very heavy water bottle broke. Now, we save the quarters for car and clothes wash, and make a huge effort to clear the change purse.
