Motion-sensing lights
Hi all,
New member and new Montana HC 377FL owner as well. Purchased our camper over Labor Day weekend and have nearly stayed in it every other weekend since. We love the model, but there are some gripes I will DEFINITELY be discussing in some threads on here.
First and foremost, what is up with these silly motion lights?! Yes they sense motion, but they never stop flickering. On and off, on and off all night long. I can even see them flickering on and off through the entry door windows when no one is in the camper. Are these faulty and need to be replaced by my dealer? I even tried to put masking tape over the sensor nodes, and they STILL flicker. Very frustrating when trying to fall asleep either in the front living area or in the rear bedroom with the stairway lights constantly on and off.

Yeah something seems amiss with those motion sensing lights. They shouldn't be flickering. That too would drive me bonkers.

Look closely at the light fixtures. Ours have switches on them for 3 settings, OFF, ON and MOTION. Just turn them off and on manually if you don't want the motion option. The switch on ours is a rocker style switch with "|" on one side and "||" on the other. Can't remember which one is motion, I think it is "||". The center position is off and the "|" is on.

Since our unit is a 2013 we do not have the motion sensing lights and it is pretty dark in the unit at night if one needs to use the bathroom. I found some motion sensor lights at Harbor Freight that work perfectly and they are a blue tint so they don't blind you when they come on in the night. We have put them both in the bathroom and the hallway going to the bathroom to light our way. Sorry don't have any pictures of them.

For what it's worth, mine flickers too. I just ignore it. I've seriously though about disconnecting the wire, and add a new light there that has an on off switch. Sometimes, I just want everything dark. Our cat roams the camper all night and activates the light. Then it flickers. Mostly we ignore it. But sometimes, we really would like it to be just plain dark.
I like the ones in the closet and the basement. They do have an on-off-auto detect movement switch. It would be very easy to switch them ... if I can only ever remember to get a new light when I'm not actually in the camper!

I pulled mine out and cut a wire to disable them. They drove us nuts. There's no way to turn them off or change modes.

These are cheap, and go out quickly. Had mine replaced under warranty after 3 months...common. second ones are sensitive...set off in windy days.

I like the idea they turn on at night. My dogs are free to roam around in case someone want to invite themself in during the night.
My girls, 2 100lbs German Shepard’s, like that the steps are lit as they do their job.

Are you talking about the motion light at the door/steps inside? If so, you can just cover the sensor with a small piece of black electrical tape.

We have the same RV 2021 HC 377fl and one of our hallway lights is doing the same thing. We have contacted our dealer 4 times and they said they world get a replacement drop shipped to us but they never did. Ugh
