Furnace Air Flow

We have a new 331RL. Furnace runs loud and the air flow out of the floor vents you can hardly feel, especially in the bathroom and bedroom. Is this normal?

Hot air rises. you do want reduced hot air flow to the upstairs. How is it maintaining temperature?

My fix for modulating air flow to various areas was to install new floor registers with adjustable flaps. Home Depot carries the two sizs needed, about the same color and with screw holes. Lowe's has similar but without the screw holes. The version without screw holes are hard to drill plus don't have the screw recesses - and those exposed screws can hurt at O-Dark-Thirty.

Additionally, there is a 3 or 4" heat line directly from the furnace that puts hot air in the belly. Air follows the path of least resistance so you may be adding more to the belly area then wanted or needed. That can be bloced partially or completely with a cap, also found in a Big Box store

Remove basement wall and check for loose or broken duct work, we had a broken duct line in our rig when it was fairly new.

Check to see that the ducting is actually connected to the furnace. Our last unit (Open Range) was very sloppily put together and quality control didn’t notice that they hadn’t been connected at manufacture.
