I watched a video on this Riverstone model you mention and the guy said it has an empty weight of 16,900 pounds. That is a lot of weight if this is the standard Lippert 5th wheel frame they are using? The reason we went to our SOB was it has triple box steel tubing and the frame is built like a tank, and it has 9k axles and disc brakes, but the empty weight is 19,000 pounds! So again, how many things can they add to make the inside more glitzy, and then not beef up the construction of the frame, which is what the whole thing rides on?
My understanding is the frames are made by Lippert, but the design is Keystone/Montana

Interestingly, the Riverstone web site or its brochure makes no mention of its frame construction.

And some floorplans pin weights are over 3,900 lbs.

Looks impressive. Would certainly be a consideration if I were looking. Surprising their web site or brochure doesn't have more info to promote their frame construction.

Watched the video. Looks impressive. Looks like it has almost the same construction on the frame as my SOB. The main thing is that it comes back and ties it together making it a box frame rather than a Z frame on my previous Montana. There were just a couple of things I think they should have done, and that is to go to the independent suspension rather than 8k axles? Also, MY SOB tried doing 3/8" thick roof plywood a few years back, and they are suffering for it now, and went back to 1/2" thick roof plywood, and are replacing most of the roofs that they did the 3/8" thick on. So that would be a guinea pig thing to wait on to see how this holds up on the Riverstone?

frame comparison

Vipermanden commented about the Riverstone frame construction "The main thing is that it comes back and ties it together making it a box frame rather than a Z frame on my previous Montana"

I noticed the same thing. I took some screen shots from the Riverstone video to compare to the Montana frame. I sketched in the Riverstone frame over the Montana frame to further illustrate the difference. I would think the way they frame front cantilever of the Riverstone is less likely to flex than the Montana. Just my opinion from eye-balling it...I did not run the calcs!.

Looking at your drawing it does look like it would be stronger.I like the fact that you get disk brakes but yeah no IS.

This is what sold me after having the "Frame Flex" issues with my Montana. Look at the difference in these two chassis. It took me a while to find a pic of the Lippert Z frame chassis, because there are lawsuits and complaints from almost every RV Forum about this problem. Just Google Lippert Frame Flex, and see for yourselves!
