Heart scan for $50.00
I heard that ad on the radio and called that day.
Sue and I had ours this morning, a bargain indeed.
After the scan and seeing some Plaque in Artery my on my report, I made an appointment with my Primary Dr. for this week. I had a Nuclear stress test 2 years ago and was OK, so I am hoping this one will be as well, I have no problems at all, but best to get one again.
Have any of you folks had to deal with this Plaque deal?

Oz, I had the same $50 scan I'll bet, Saint Lukes? They found some plaque also. Suggested the same nuclear test. I'm feeling pretty good so decided to go on VT anyway. Will look into it as soon as I get back. It just amazes me every test they do seems to automaticly generate the need for another test. Jim

Yep! St. Likes, the go-to hospital for us.
I asked how they could do it for that low price.. But I figured it would lead to other tests, good business plan
How long has it been since your last stress test?
Let me know how it goes.
Enjoy the trip, travel safe

Ozz, I had the EKG treadmill stress test 13 months ago. (Not the dye) I lasted 18 minutes on the treadmill and never got to the maximum heart rate they wanted. The doc finally shut it down and was satisfied with the results. That is one of the reasons I was not too alarmed but agree I need to have it checked sometime after VT. Jim

Glad the results were good. That pretty much mirrors my test, around 2 yrs ago. I don't recall if I got the max heart rate or not, I know my mouth was so dry I couldn't whistle on the incline, I did have the dye. He told me I was good also.
My worry is that the artery plaque might break loose and cause a stroke, or heart attack. Guess you can't do too much about that... I know I will be changing my diet. My plaque really increased since my last scan.

Treadmill/Dye stress test for me in two weeks. Blood pressure erratic and momentary blackout when standing up quickly. Probably blockages. Stent time. Getting old sucks.

Think positive and don't worry un-nessarily, could be something entirely harmless.
Let us know.
I saw my Dr. Today, he is adding some mess to my list
You are right Keith, getting old is not for sissies
Good luck with it.

Thanks for the encouragement Ozz. This has been the summer from hell for me, but I refuse to surrender.
Torn Retina and many Laser sessions.
Kidney stone
Found a cyst on my kidney when doing the MRI for the stone
Erratic blood pressure with resultant stress test

Just a heads up on the dye test. It showed that I had a blockage in one of the main artery's in the heart. Immediately sent me to heart specialist which decided that I need a heart catheder (sp) test which was set up for the following week. Dr said it will most likely be a stint and stay overnight in the hospital. After the 10 min. test that he performed he come into the room and said everything is fine. Everything looked fantastic. I asked what about blockage and the stress test report that everyone was worried about. He said..... Well about 15% of them test are false positive.
Don't get me wrong I'm glad that it come back with great results, but just imagine what that hospital bill and all other related stuff come to. I can't remember now but it was a ton of cash and thanks to Ins. it didn't cost me anything but a small deductible.

After the scan, I thought I would have to have the nuke stress test, but when I went to my Dr., he said I didn't need it, after checking me out. He just added a med to my list, he did schedule a ultra-sonic test for blood flow in my legs, don't remember what it was called, I go for that the 11th.
BTW, the meds would cost me $365.00. Yikes! I am going to the V.A. to get an exam so I can get them for $7.00.
I think the pharmaceutical companies are robbers in suits..
Dave, I am glad your test came out Ok. We just never know, do we?

My daughter is a nurse and she said I should have a test to see if my carotid (the big arteries that go to your brain through the neck) have any blockages. Anybody have this done?
Thanks Dave for the info on the dye test, I'll be asking my Doctor about this.
