For those with Scan Guage II
In my 6.7 ford the scan guage II which I already owned gave very limited useful data. I have been monitoring the Engine Water Temperature but really wanted to be able to monitor EGT. Well I finally got the code from them yesterday to monitor EGT. On the King Ranch in guage mode in the information center you can watch Engine Oil Temperature & Transmission Fluid Temperature. Now I also have RPMs, Voltage, Engine Water Temperature and EGT. That should be about all we need to monitor other than of course the Speedometer, Fuel Level & Boost.

So what are the various code values to monitor EGT? The code I have from them didn't work.

This info is to read Bank 1 Sensor 1
TXD 07E022F478
RXF 056206F40778
RXD 4010
MTH 000900320000
NAM EGT
Don't ask me exactly where in the exhaust loop Bank 1 is, because I don't know. I am going to try and find out though.

Wow! that is significantly different than the values they supplied to me. Of course, what they gave me didn't work either. I will give these a try.
Here are a couple of PIDs specific for the 6.7L that you can try:
Ambient Air Temperature (Degrees F)
TXD: 07E022F446
RXF: 046205F40646
RXD: 3008
MTH: 00090005FFD8
NAM: AIR
Engine Oil Temperature (Degrees F)
TXD: 07E022F45C
RXF: 046205F4065C
RXD: 3008
MTH: 00090005FFD8
NAM: EOT
Transmission Temperature (Degrees F)
TXD: 07E1221E1C
RXF: 0462051E061C
RXD: 3010

They sent me those as well but since the Ford supplied instrumentation already gave those values, I didn't use them.
I hope they come up with more.
On the 6.4 they have several different EGT values.

But where are those EGT's measured.Pre turbo is where they should be measured.. The On board monitoring on this 6.4 looks at two EGT temps but neither of them are pre turbo. Had to install a sensor to see the pre turbo temps.

Rich, actually on the 6.4 the Scan Guage reads EGTs at 3 different places. Someone on DieselStop opined that it might be in the exhaust manifold from the bank with #1 Cylinder. Hopefully that qualifies as pre-turbo.

The EGT readings on the 6.4 are taken Pre-Catalyst, Post-Catalyst and post-DPF. Hope that helps.

Looked it up and you are correct on the 6.4.It is looked at in three places but none of them are true pre turbo as as we scan through them there is a significant difference. We are told they look at them in those locations to determine when to regen and when to stop. We do not Have the scan gage but look at the same things.

I got emailed back by James DeLong the Operations Manager for Scan Guage II. He said if the software in my unit is version 4.0 or greater I might be able to get 4 different EGT readings from my 6.7 PCM.
I suspect they are Pre-Catalyst, Post-Catalyst, Pre-DPF & Post-DPF. This would show you when passive & active regeneration occur. I will have to check my software version and if it isn't 4.0 or higher I will send it in for the software upgrade.

We had Ford provide a list of EVERYTHNG" that Ford looked in the 6.4L. The shop that installed our gage is a shop that builds off road vehicles. They said we needed to see the pre turo EGT. The EGT does increase 400 to 600 degrees in a regen. It fact the increase in EGT is the only way we know we wre in regen. We do get a regen display but only for a few seconds. We drive by our gage.

It would seem that a regen occurring during a hard pull on a big hill could be a bad thing. I was once told not to exceed 1,300 degrees for very long when I had the 6.0 If you were already running in the 800 to 900 degree range and regen kicked on half way up the hill, that wouldn't be good. You also have to wonder that since the temperature rise starts in the engine and then the elevated temps are pushed through the catalytic converter and the SCR sections of the exhaust system prior to reaching the DPF, how do those elevated temps effect them?

We have had that happen on Fancy gap about half way up.Already running hot on a long hard pull and the EGT jumps 400/500 degrees. That is were the gage come in handy. We are set to alarm at 1300 degrees and we back off to keep the EGT down. We wind up doing 40/45MPH with other rigs without a gage passing us doing IMO damage to the turbo. We are told that at 1300 degrees the tips of the turbo blades are white hot and it not good to do that. We are also told that doing that on a regular bases will weaken the blades over time and cause a turbo failure.
Surprisingly we did not experience a significant loss of power although we did feel it kick into regen. Our monitor gage is our most valuable tool.

My Scan Guage II is going to be sent off the end of this week for the software upgrade. Then I will know the temps downstream at least in the exhaust system. I'm still puzzled about how the truck is set up to begin defueling to protect the turbo when there doesn't seem to be a temp sensor pre-turbo. Maybe when the temp is monitored in front of the catalytic Converter there is a temperature that coorelates to the 1,300 degree reading pre-turbo. If there is, I wish Ford would share the info.
