air conditioner vents

Has anyone found air conditioner vents that can be shut down to reduce the air flow. Have 2014 3725RL bedroom gets cold would like to close the vents but these have no way to do that. Or has anyone modified current vents.

Thanks

Don

I believe OZ did that to his vents. Sure he will jump in here soon.

There are some options out there: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&key...l_4yp7qdl6a2_b
I haven't tried them, with two AC units I have enough options as is.

You need to keep in mind that airflow is barely enough with all of them open, if you shut off airflow, the coild will start to freeze, then it will cycle on the freeze-stat and reduce overall cooling to the unit. Also, it can become hard on the compressor. These things are not too much better than a window unit.

Just trying to cut some flow to the bedroom, while running just the back air. Bedroom gets to cold and could keep some in the main area.

You could try one, I know what you mean by the poor airflow. You can buy a replacement vent diffuser from many RV supply stores, Try RVparts inc and PPL Motorhomes but watch the operation of your A/C unit for freezing coil. Good luck with it.

I have a quick cool shutter on my rear A/C that diverts most of the cold air to the rear of the RV. This significantly reduces airflow to the bedroom. If you have the same setup, you could try that (it's free). No mods necessary.

Boy, I wish I had your problems! I barely get any air to the bedroom! And since it sits higher than the living room, it is hotter a little bit anyway.

This last trip I pulled the round ceiling vents and cut down the extension into the duct. I took off about 1/2". Doesn't sound like much but it made a difference.

I also checked that the insulation was still where it was supposed to be, hanging from the top of the duct, that the hole had been taped so cold air cannot get between the ceiling and the duct. All was well.

On the rotating louvre the first little tab was a pain to get to release but one done the others were much easier. I used a 3/16 wide flat blade screwdriver.

To cut the extension i used my Dremel with a tiny saw blade, #199. Just be carefull as they are sharp but it cut the extra away quickly.

Next year I may look for the round vents that can be closed being carefull not to just shut them off.

As far as restricting air to the bedroom for more cold air in the living room have you checked that the shutter is fully open. There is a sliding gate that can be adjusted to allow more or less air directly out of the panel the A/C sits on

I've found the quick cool vent adjustment works well enough so far, but am going to cut down the vent extensions in the bedroom vents when I can find the time to.

You could consider putting the fan on "Low"

If you run the unit on low for too long you will freeze up the unit. If you are doing heavy cooling you need to move a lot of air across the unit. Jim

I have a 2014 3582RL. The bedroom cools down really well but the living area does not cool like the bedroom. I pulled down the fresh air vents and cleaned out the sawdust. I also found the insulation hanging down and cutting off the air that goes to the ac vents. Cleaning out the saw dust and getting the insulation up it seemed to improve the living area but still nothing like the bedroom. I set the a/c to 72 and it stays around 80 in the living area. Any ideas?

I have the 2014 3402RL with dual A/C and I had problems with the bedroom getting too cool and the L/R staying too warm. Then I found out about the vent/divert-er on the bedroom A/C. I had the vent set to push all the air down into the bedroom. When I shut that vent, the bedroom A/C air went into the duct system. Now both A/Cs work together and I can keep both parts of the RV comfortable.
