Cancel dinner reservations

I thought we had signed up for this amish dinner, but when I look at the list of attendees, I can't find our names. At anyrate, we find we won't be able to attend the rally as planned, so if we were down for dinner, please give our place to others.

Thank you,
Sue & Dave VanEmburg

I will be on a conference call until 5 pm and will not be able to get in line as required. What is the work around for those that may be in the same situation?

Like I told you at registration, just come as soon as possible by yourself. Food is passed two times. Maybe your conference call will be over early or you can talk on your way on hands free device

Thank you. Just wanted to make sure since I kept hearing how driving in alone is unacceptable. Hoping to get out of the call early enough to make it to the line up.

This dinner is homemade Amish food prepared by Mrs. Jones and her son and is served in a building on their farm. Here is the description of her dinner: A staple, the popular, belt-loosening Thresher’s Meal includes 2 meats (ham and roast beef), mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, noodles, buttered vegetables, Amish salad, and various homemade pies and ice cream. This meal is served family style and after the food is passed the first time it will be passed a second time, There is always lots of food. The cost will be $20.00/person, cash

Please sign up on this thread only, NO pm's. Because of the large number of people involved, please give me your First and Last names when you sign up. I will not put you on the list without this information.

You will be paying with cash for the meal at the same time you check in or pick up your packets at the Rally on Wednesday or Thursday, the 8th or 9th of September." The last day to sign up is August 28 so that I can give numbers to the "cook". No cancellations can be taken after that date, unless there are people on the waiting list who will take your place. We are able to take 200 and after that we will have a waiting list.

We also need helpers for parking, taking tickets and help with seating. This is a great time for couples to sign up as the guy helps with the parking and the gal helps with taking tickets and the seating. When you sign up to attend you can also tell us if you would like to be a helper. We now have enough helpers. Thanks to all who volunteered

We will be giving you further instructions later.

Paul. Do the Amish family have dinners all the time or just during the Rallies? Or do the have a restaurant somewhere? We travel around that area. There food was awesome when we went there this year.
Thanks

I think they are available for Groups year round. We had a small Mini Rally in July as our main Rally got cancelled, but we contacted one of the Amish Families and had a dinner for approx 20 people. So I think you have to have enough people to make it worth their while to do it, and scheduled at least a few days in advance.

In Shipshewana there are a couple of vendors who offer the dinners in Amish homes. You just sign up at their site on main street. I think the one we attended was limited to 10 people so we ate with 8 people we had never met. One of the options was a carriage ride to the home hosting the dinner. A google search for Amish Dinners around Shipshewana (are whatever town you are near) will give you a ton of options.
