Tellico Plains ,TN
We are headed out this weekend for the Tellico Plains KOA in east TN. Have friends joining us. Looking forward to our last weekend of camping before Tom's surgery. Sooooo if any of you are in the east TN area, be sure to stop by for a drink. Will send a campground report when we return.

Wow!! I was born and raised in Tellico. Really surprised to see my small hometown as the header topic. Enjoy your stay. Take a look at Indian Boundary Campground while you're there, if you haven't already.

JoyceH,
If you are not already aware, there is a very nice drive going east out of Tellico Plains called "Cherohala Skyway". Off the beaten path and usually very light traffic. Then turn north on highway 129 and travel the "Dragon's Tail" alias Deal's Gap. It's a very scenic, twisty drive adored by the motorcycle crowd as a must travel road. Have a fun weekend and good luck with the surgery.

Starcommander...Welcome to the MOC forum. We actually own some property in Tellico Village in Loundon county, but haven't decided yet if we are going to build on it. Have made a note to check out Indian Boundary Campground. Exactly where is it located? Do you happen to have an address we can put in our GPS?
palebluedot,
Thanks for the headsup on the scenic drive. If we don't get to check it out this trip, know we will be back in that area in the near future. We have friends joining us for the weekend. They are native East Tennesseans and are probably familiar with the Cherohala Skyway and Dragon's Tail. Will ask them about it.

Joyce H,
The campground is a US Forest Service Campground. Beautiful area. Very crowded during the summer. You need reservations as there is only one nonreservable site per loop. You can go through reserveusa.com. If you travel the Cherohala Skyway, you will travel right past the campground entrance. It is approx. 1-2 miles off the main highway. Has a nice size lake and good bike trail. Two of the loops have electric hookup. There is dump station close by.
