Absentee Boon Docking
I keep my rig at a storage area under roof between frequent trips. In effect, it is on it's own for power as there are no available 120v power sources at the storage facility. Because of that, I keep the rig powered down and the 12v disconnect switch off. I visit it quite often and when doing so, bring my Honda 2000i generator along, hook up with the 50 - 30 adapter, turn on the 12v disconnect for the few hours I am there.
Just recently, I arrived a day before a four day trip to turn on the 12v and propane to cool the refrigerator down by the next day. When I returned next day, refer was only a little cool, and the 12v battery so dead that I could only get a light to glow. My meter was in a drawer covered by a slide so I couldn't tell how badly discharged it was. Given the phantom 12v pull down and the refer needing 12v, a single 12v battery is not enough in this situation.
I am currently converting to 2 T-105 golf cart batteries and building an enclosure to contain the batteries. This I have always done on my Cruising Boats. If the factory supplied converter can take a plug in intelligent 3 stage charge module, I'll add that. If not, then add a Xantrex True Charger. Will let you know how this works out.
