[QUOTE=432bartman;1210268]Damn, when did he deface a National Park? If I had known that, and it was prior to me getting my hitch in April of 2020, I would never had bought it. In fact with all this warranty talk, I'm thinking of ditching it and going with a Lippert approved Reese Goosebox.[/QUOT

Just saw it. Looks like the owner apologized and came clean on doing such a dumb thing.

Actually if you read the local coverage of it ... the Corona Arch isn't in a National Park and the "graffiti" of his and his wife's initials plus the heart were not made deep enough that it wasn't able to be easily removed ... which it was. I don't condone personalizing wonders of Mother Nature, but misleading statements on social media sometimes spark more damage than the act itself. How bout we get back to the meat and potatoes of this post.

At the direction of our local sheriff, I spent a hot summer afternoon once on the scaffolding of the water tower in my hometown with a paint can and paint roller while removing my profession of love to a little gal of my early years. (No it wasn't in John Deere Green) I've also carved initials in several trees and road sign timber over the years as I'm sure many of us have. Old news.

Love my Andersen. If you don`t that`s fine but you have to have owned one to intelligently comment on why you don`t like it as some have done, just not their cup of tea. Yeh, I know scratched a rock, has nothing to do with the hitch.
This is the same thing which hitch is better? Which pin box is better? And best of all which truck should I get? It's always the same old crap from the same guys.

If you like your hitch than just say why you like it like I did in my post. Why do guys keep beating the same dead horse?
Isn't the DRW horse dead already

If you don’t like a discussion please feel free to not look at it. It’s OK. There are a lot of them I don’t look at.

I have used the Anderson for 3 years and really like it. Certainly no slop like my standard trailer ball hitch. Never owned another fifth wheel hitch to compare it with. I tow with a Chevy 2500 6'6" bed. I first used it forward of the kingpin, worked fine but the rear of the pinbox could hit the side rails when turning. I switched it to behind the kingpin and can't hit the bed rails, still can make sharp turns without worrying about the cap contacting the pickup. I do have a lighter model, 2955, and no warranty to worry about.

I agree , old news . I recently got a PM on a different forum , got severely criticized for recommending the Andersen hitch. He went on ,and on about it.

I look at it this way: Anderson isn't for us with our Heavy unit, but if it works for others, more power to them.

Most ,if not all that criticize the Andersen ,have never towed an inch with one. kind of like the slide toppers , read a lot of threads asking about them, and the usual replies are ,I have read this ,and that, but in reality never had them .

Not saying you are criticizing so to speak, but the language implies, " with our Heavy unit " Whats heavy may I ask ??

You're safe, it's rated at 24K and 4500lbs. of tongue weight....

Well I wouldn't tow 19K with my rail mount Andersen , although it is attached to a frame adapter , and its a four point attachment , but its only rated for 20K , and 4500 pin. Wouldn't hesitate to tow 19K with the aluminum rated for 24K ,and 4500 pin , as long as the pin weight is within that rating, which could be doubtful. I have seen a lot of big Toyhaulers , and fifth wheels hooked up to the Andersen .

Well , not quite, mines 20K ,and 4500. I have never been one to want to get too close to the max weight rating. I went from a 16K hitch to 18K ,when I stepped up to 15,500 GVWR , although I would have been okay with 16K , with the weight I had loaded .

Seems like most of us play in the 14k - 16k GVWR ballpark. When you start talking about the 20k ballpark is seems a wise necessity to think about a number of things a little differently. I love my Andersen but would definitely have to think it through at the higher weight...along with my TV.

As said 19K pulling it is not what would bother me, its how close in the pin weight to 4500. Its like the truck, it will pull it ,and stop it ,but will it haul it .

Finally got a response from Anderson:

Customer Service
3:14 PM (7 minutes ago)

to me

Apologies for the delay on this response. Currently we are trying to work with Lippert in regards to this issue. However with use of our hitch if it is ever to be the valid cause of damage to the trailer frame with documentation of reason, our five million dollar warranty would have the customer covered if it is to ever happen. As of now it is still under investigation for further information in regards to this issue but our lifetime warranty will have this case covered for the customer.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of faith in that Andersen "warranty". The section in red will prevail; the techs/dealership say it's a frame problem; Lipperts says the Andersen isn't approved and it's the problem; Andersen says it was a frame problem, their warranty doesn't apply and the wall is formed. How do you break it - with a lawyer and litigation. I believe I've read of this situation.

The ONLY way this will get resolved is for Andersen to get off their you know whats and get Lippert to certify them or folks just stop buying Andersen products; the latter won't happen. Pressure could also be put on Lippert but, they could care less about the Andersen. IMO it's in Andersen's court.

My new Montana is going to be attached with a Pullrite 3900 1P hitch. I have agonized over this decision. It will be basically the same hitch as my 2600 except with a fifth wheel head on it. My dealer made it easy by giving me half of the price back in trade. Now I won’t worry about frame flex, warranty, etc.

I agonized over this decision as well, and in the end, ended up with a 3900. I really like it, and haven't had any issues with it...

Thanks for the feedback. I need to get down to a clean bed while camping. So anything that requires a hoist or two people to remove just won’t work. Always nice to hear from someone that has used the product.
