My install did completely cover the holes from the old Dometic thermostats.

Bartman,

Great report - thanks! They sound cheap at twice the price.

Sorry, I failed to update. Got my trailer back and put the MicroAir thermostat in first thing. It is an extremely easy job to install as has been noted and mine covered the existing holes as well.

I love the seamless operation vs all the high, low, cut off, back on, cycle and cycle - no more. Quiet and more or less transparent. Wifi or Bluetooth will operate it as well. Heat pump and furnace work just fine with it too. I like the addition of being able to set a temp and the stat will run the AC or heat pump to keep it there. The almost absence of the compressor just kicking on and off incessantly would seem that it would not only make the AC more efficient but cheaper as well. It makes the way the Dometic operates seem like it came out of the stone age. Now, guess I'll need to start looking at the Easy Start.....

Micro Air Thermostat

I too just completed the switch to Micro Air Thermostat 351 Model in my 2018 Montana 3921FB. IMO the differenc eis day and night from the old Dometic T Stat. Micro Air Stat is so much more like using a nice home Stat. the addition of being able to connect by either Bluetooth or WIFI is a nice feature. My A/C units are cooling more efficiently and my Montana is running about 5 to 7 degrees cooler with same temperature setting on Dometic Stat. Time will tell how this unit holds up but, for me this was a excellent upgrade.

Congrats on the upgrade. I love mine. One of the best improvements.

I just installed the model 351. It works!! The only thing I don't like is how it is hanging . It is not tight against the wall. Maybe I didn't put those button kind of things on right.

The buttons go with the little "ring" on top and the cylinder up against the wall. In that arrangement you just make the cylinder/ring tight against the wall and can't tighten down the thermostat. Ours isn't rock solid tight but not enough play to worry about. If yours is really loose you might just trim down the little plastic cylinders to make for a tighter fit.

Does everybody have 2 thermostats like me? Are you guys replacing both x $250 each? Or maybe replace one each year? I would like to replace both - just need to water that money tree some more.

Edit: just to clarify - in my year model the thermostats do not interface with incommand module. They are independent of each other. Not sure if the newer models connect to incommand somehow.

I have 2 as well. Have not replaced the 2nd and don't know that I will. The main 15k thermostat controls the living area AC and heat pump. 90% of the time that is all we need. When the need arises for the 2nd AC I turn it on and let it cycle as it wants to augment to other if required. If for some reason the bedroom is hot I use the dump feature on the bedroom AC and the regular thermostat has proven to be OK for that to this point.

Sourdough, our bedroom AC doesn't have a dump feature, just another 15K BTU AC.
So you are saying you only replaced the thermostat in the kitchen area? It works fine with the other Dometic thermostat in the bedroom? Just replacing thermostats one at a time might make that a little easier to swallow right now.

I installed it correctly. I think I'll just wait to see if it stays on driving down the road.
I only did the thermostat in the living area, did not replace the bedroom one.

Sooo, I too took the plunge and got the Micro-Air thermostat to replace the Dometic CT for the main A/C unit (heat pump). It’s absolutely the best investment to make your Dometic heating and air conditioning system work properly. No longer do I have a huge difference between my thermostat setting and what the actual temperature is. Plus you can adjust (calibrate) the thermostat. Don’t know if I’ll invest for the bedroom thermostat replacement since it is A/C only but it may be worth it in the long run. Highly recommend if you’re frustrated with the CT performance.

Yes, I only replaced the main living area thermostat with the heat pump. It will work just fine with the Dometic currently in your bedroom just like the old one did. I will probably replace the bedroom when we get back from FL in the spring simply because they operate the AC so smoothly vs all that high, low, kick on, kick off cycling business. I'm a light sleeper and that stuff constantly wakes me up.

Maybe everyone should mail their old thermostats back to Dometic with a note telling them why they’re getting them back. I can see this replacement being on my to-do list over the off season.

So, our Dometic Control is replaced as well.
I replaced only the one in the living area and also changed the location from below the shelf to a more ventilated area.
We always had the feeling the sensor was getting to fast to warm under the shelf.

And wow, it is so much better in regulating the HVAC system I can't believe it.

The comfort of changing temps via bluetooth from your bed is terrific

Thanks for bringing this product up here

Dometic should seriously look at their product and figure out why it routinely is failing. Thank goodness Micro-Air figured it out.

Why would they bother to fix it when they can sell a faulty product by the thousands and noone will say “Boo”?

Micro Air Heads Up

Just an fyi on the MircroAir Easy touch thermostat that I replaced the Dometic CT with. First time to use the heat pump function was 2 nights ago. Woke up about 4 am freezing. The MicroAir seems to lock up on the heat pump function, keep the AC running but no warm air. When trying to change it to furnace or any other function other than heat pump it will not let you cycle to them. I had to do a factory reset in the settings menu and start over. It has done it 2 nights in a row.

Spoke with MicroAir this morning and they will try to duplicate the issue - they said they had not heard of it before. It does seem weird. Seems to work fine on AC or furnace. I'll post with the solution.
