Hi John, I retired from Santa Rosa. I've been into Reed's. They are a very well respected dealer, but they don't have what we want and don't know when they're going to get any new coaches. In fact they didn't have any new Montanas.

HI, I have always liked driving a truck and trailer. We bought the class A to tow a boat, we had a 5th wheel prior. We no longer have a boat we can tow, so I want to go back.

I have an F-250, gas engine. I would prefer the extra payload of a 350 so I wouldn't have to be so weight conscious. My 250 has air bags and heavy duty aftermarket adjustable shock absorbers and tows flat. Keep in mind that a diesel has 250/2500 probably doesn't have enough payload for a Montana.

Congrats and caveats.. the 2500 has a gxvw of 10200, truck is 6600.. pin is 2300, you and wife guess 350, hitch say 150.. you may be over the gvwr or rawr on the 2500. Many may have had little issues with theirs. Ours has been the worst. In 5 years, the trim moulding near the roof disintagrated, rear axle bolts came out or broke, large slide cost 1200 to fix, the the cable slide broke. 500, then 700 to fix. Black wTer tank busted, outside slide wipes ate comng apart.Shower door handles fell off, gfci failed, refer went to liop error.. fan blades came apart.. fireplace wont turn off without banging on it. Toilet never held water, black water valve failed..Carpet needs replacing.. eats tires like a kid eats candy..They say this is normal...The 250 or 2500 will give a better ride.. yes our 3500 dually is stiff.. good.. luck

Your results may vary but for me, 1 year 3 months and 12,000 + miles the bedroom closet door came off it's upper track and broke a small piece of plastic inside it and I had a leaking front jack, other than having the washer and dryer put in by (CW in Sacramento, they were the lowest price by hundreds), that has been it. This is a rolling house so I do expect more over time.

As suggested all over this forum do a thorough walk through before signing and paying. I went as far as to bring a creeper with me and did front to back ground to roof and everything in between and found nothing, but I suspect that was because when I got the notice it had been shipped I sent them the 3 page document (I created it from reading this forum) on what I was going to check, they had it almost 2 weeks before they called me to pick it up.

Actually my 2020 Silverado's GVWR is 11350, GCWR is 27500, Pin weight is 2775, payload is 3375 and towing is 18500, we'll be OK. Thanks for the response and sorry to hear of all your issues.

This is a great place full of experienced knowledge that you will love. But some people love them dually s. Before long, you will need a HDT to pull it with. LOL. I’m just kidding folks. The reason I commented was to see why you are going from class A to FW? I’m looking forward to retirement also, but we are going to Class A. Twenty five years of towables. Maybe I’m getting lazy, and are looking for the easy way out, but less worries of weights, brakes, chassis, and just less worry free. Cut the engine off, and go to bed or eat instantly. So many pros and cons, but we are convinced. Good luck with DW and Montana. We really like ours.

I'm not so sure about "No more worries about weight" Have Friends with a Gas Class A, they found out that once they're both in their seats, they're slightly over the front axle rating.

Wow, we have a Tiffin “gasser” in our vision and will get the 26000 lb chassis, instead of the 24000. And I’ll make sure my DW maintains her slim figure .
Can’t justify diesel pusher. But nothing over 36 ft either. But agree with you, always facing weight limits. Thanks

The one I mentioned is a George Town, probably close to 10 years old now.
