Axle Alignment

Hello Everyone;

I am open to suggestions for self quick check if axles on 2003 Montana 3195RK are still in alignment.

Tire wear is even at this point but ran over a curb about a 1,000 miles back.

Don't want to take to an axle shop if no problem.

Thanks for any ideas, the group offers great support.

Jacob

Take a long straight edge and place it across the center of both tires (horizontally). You should see a slight toe in (flat edge contacts the rear of each tire, and there is a small space at the front of the tire). Space at the front of each tire should be the same.

Then take a small level and place it vertically on the tire, touching both the top and bottom of the tire. Should show level or slight bubble up.

I am just wondering, how do you adjust for a wheel alignment on a fffth wheel? i just called a place in mesa to get it done, $270 an axle but now i am wondering what they do to align. it? should have asked more questions but the person making the appointments knew very little of the procedure, does anyone here know what would be done?
thx

They use hydraulics to bend the axle. Had it done to my rig twice.

The Straight Edge method (long level from harbor freight) is an excellent starting point.

I had mine done at Straight Line suspension in Mesa.
There is also another place near San Diego-that I highly recommend
East County Alignment...

Rigs with Correct track kit - its a mechanical adjustment.
other rigs its a hydraulic ram used to bend the axel to conform.
Sometimes It takes 2 adjustments -

I was not happy with the TOE adjustment at Straight Line and had to return.
Straight Line suspension is good-just have them show you what they did.
There are only a few shops that will do a trailer these days.

well got her done, yesterday at straight line suspension. adjusted everything, camber and toe, said that the camber was out mostly on my back axle. also changed a hanger that was defective. not cheap but well needed. $270 per axle
vey professional. about the only place here in phoenix that i could find. time will tell for sure, tires were wearing on outside edges.
