Fired my keystone dealer yesterday

We purchased our third Montana last July from our local Keystone dealer. We have been happy with their service department's performance with the first two trailers but this one has been very frustrating. I call it " DO A JOB, MAKE A JOB ". We would bring it in for standard warranty work and exterior dents and interior woodwork damage would appear. They were very sorry for the damage caused and ordered the parts needed to fix the damage. Upon bringing it back for the repair, something else would be damaged and the game continues. After this situation happened for the seventh time and no mention of gas and mileage reinbursment I called the owner to make him aware of the Service Department's lack of respect and professionalism regarding service to customer's treasures. He stood by his people, so I had no choice but to tell him that we cannot trust his service department for any repairs in the future and surly not to purchase any future trailers from his dealership. We will move on!

Have you contacted Keystone Customer Service on this problem? If not, I'd be sending them a certified, return receipt letter and explain what has happened and what the problems have been with your dealer. Make it a nice letter but be specific on the problems and ask for another dealer that you can rely on. The problem with this is unless Keystone recommends them and contacts the new dealer, the new dealer will just put you on the list for repairs AFTER they work on units that have been purchased from them. As DQDick stated, I'd also like to know who this dealer is so we can advise the MOC community to avoid this dealership because of the problems they have caused. If they have done this to a three time purchaser from their business who knows what they are doing to the new customer.

Hi

I am afraid you will find a large number of the Keystone dealers will have similar problems. Keystone does not audit their dealer service departs they base their entire performance criteria on the dealers sales.

As for calling Keystone I would give it a try but if you are dealing with a high volume dealer Keystone will not help. They will feed you a line of B**** s**** and send you down the road without any resolution.

This is a $20,000.00 education I just gave you for nothing.

With Keystone they seem to rank sales above customer satisfaction. You did what you were forced to do. Hopefully you can find a new dealer that understands the importance of after sales service.

We have friends that recently bought a new Montana. They traveled 120 miles on the day they were told to come for their PDI and arrived with there trade in tow. By the time they arrived NOTHING had been done to their new Montana and were sent home to come back another day. Thanks for buying from us....NOT!

We had to return to the dealer for them to repair the damage they caused. It is a sad situation that happened after a sum of ten years of three new trailer sales of $210,000.00 and service. The dealer in question is located in Panama City, Fl.

If anyone thinks Keystone RV has control over any of their dealers then I have a bridge to sell really cheap. Keystone just wants someone to sell their products, anyone, they don't care as long as their product gets sold. The only way to get a dealer's attention IMHO is to not purchase a future RV from them plus possibly send them a copy of any public media postings you write which encourages others not to purchase from them.

They are just like any retail business, if their sales go down they don't make money, if they don't make money they go out of business.

Actually, the Panama City vendor is pretty interesting. A number of forum members have recommended them and two members now have had really bad experiences.

switched dealers also.Had no problem with the sales side of the deakership but the service departmnet let me down and they only get one strike.Switchd to a Keystone dealer vey near us who does not handle the Montana line but has no problem with servicing ours or with Extended warranties. They did my most recent repaires and the work was perfect.

Not surprising. This always happens when a company gets to big fast. They loose site of who got them there in the first place! We do not have any repair issues at present but I will have to research the repair records of other dealers in the area.

Like you said. It sounds like there making warranty repair money for them self's at your expense.

We fired our first dealer we purchased from after the first service experience. Horrible Service after the sale (and I paid cash - probably my mistake). The owner tried to intervene when I showed up to take my trailer elsewhere "today" after some simple warranty repairs had been promised, but had not been started after nearly a month. I should have known - they had no service bays; all work is done outside.

I just cut my losses, did some research, and now I schedule and drive about 3 hours to an honest and excellent dealer with a great service department that has been providing me outstanding service for 4 years now. It's got small town appeal! They know my name!! They even do the work on the same day as my appointment!!! In a service bay!!!
