Fireplace heater motor
We took the Montana down to Wild Horse Casino just outside of Pendleton Oregon on I 84 to double check the warrantee repair work. Still a bit cool outside so I had the fireplace heater on to keep the unit warm while staying at the RV park at the Casino. Came back to the unit Saturday night and heard a chirping sound. Investigated the noise Sunday morning and it appears to be the fireplace heater motor squeaking. Any one else have any issue with the fireplace fan motor? We really like using it as it has its own thermostat and keeps me from depending solely on the main propane furnace. I will add this to the list for the dealer to fix before our warrantee runs out.

Never a problem with the fireplace, only with dog hair getting into it.

Have never had a problem. We use ours quite a bit. Have only had the furnace on twice since buying the Big Sky 20 months ago. LOVE the fireplace!

John the heater works fine. The noise is coming from the flame movement. Never does it unless you are running the heater four an extended period of time.

Tom,
We had the same issue, thought it was mice at first. Called Dimplex and they sent me a new flicker motor and rod. Installed them both and I still had the squeak. Upon further investigation I discovered that both flicker rods were too long and were putting pressure on the plastic bushing that the end of the rod runs in. Shortened the rod and I also chucked it up in a drill to spin it so I could true up the rod (it was bent). No more squeaks for four months now.

We had one go as well, after about 5 years. Replaced it with the extended warranty.

Thanks for the information about the rods. I originally thought it was the heater until John told me to check the flames.
