How to apply window film....101

#1. Pick out film at Lowe's, buy film, talk wife into applying it, have a ham sandwich.
Pardon the sandwich crumbs on the keyboard

Send a message via MSN to trukdoc
I figured out much better to have someone else do it so DW can pick on someone else!

We put plexglass on our door and then applied some film. Well all was good until the AZ sun reflected off the film and melted our sunscreen that hung from the awning. I think the heat was enough to start a grass fire. I removed the film. We have the same film on living room window with no problems.

Down at Padrere, the setting Sun will hit directly on the rear glass, this will reflect 80% of it, also, Sue put it on our new bathroom window.

We lived in our previous TT for a while after we sold our previous home and before we purchased our current one (1-1/2 years in a 27' TT with no slide!!). Every afternoon I'd do one window. I used a TV tray and cardboard for my trimming surface and a large KOA plastic mug for the corner radii. I used the refrigerator door to put them on while I sprayed the soapy water on the adhesive. I even put some on the outside of the door windows and the bathroom window (pebbly frosted - didn't know then I could turn them around). It really helped the cool down, sun-block, and looked really sharp!! They were dark enough that without a light on inside you couldn't see a thing from the outside. I had one jalousse broken out by hail and the film kept it from shattering (kinda' like safety glass on a car).

Guess I might need to reconsider putting film on the inner skylight of the shower. Sure would hate to melt the outer skylight. I had actually picked up a package of "film" yesterday at Home Depot. Turns out it was a shrink film just to shrink over the window frame for extra insulation. Think I'll scrap that project.

We did our whole trailer and it really helps to keep the trailer cooler. The only thing I don't like is you can't see out the windows at night.

It's window tinting film, get it at Lowe's in the wallpaper section, and read the directions twice, it's not bad to install....Sue says.
