Weight and towing questions

We just purchased a 2007 Mountaineer 307RKD, and pick it up later this week. I will be towing with 97 Ford F250 7.3L PSD with 3.55 axle. I am worried about whether this vehicle will tow this trailer, especially in the mountains etc. Anyone out there that has a similar setup, I would appreciate any feedback you have. Obviously I have not been able to weight the fiver yet, but I'm sure someone has some good info. on this rig.

dennisl -

I did a search and it showed that the 5.4 l has a towing capacity of 10,000 lbs. Your trailer ships dry at 9765. You will probably find someone who has the numbers memorized, but your manual should show the GCVW rating as well as the pin weight on the rear axle. I believe its also on the door post. Best of luck with your new trailer. Looks like a nice unit.

Your trailer is just a little bigger than mine and close to the same weight. I tow with my 98 Dodge Cummins with an auto and 3:54 gears. I did put on an Edge box and bigger exhaust but it pulls my trailer just fine. You should be ok. The 7.3 is a good motor.

That 7.3 will do a good job of pulling your unit.
