RV Travel Up???

Don't know if this is an isolated case or a trend. But a heads up anyway.
We always stop at a particular RV park in Amarillo on our annual trip to Colorado. Wife loves the extensive gift shop (and there is a Gander Mountain just behind the park for me. ) Normally I just call when on the way to make sure they have a space available. And they have always had one. We are not leaving until the end of next week, but for some unknown reason I decided to call yesterday to check availability. Guy checked and said they had one space left for the night I wanted. I took it. I asked if RV travel was up and he said they had been booked solid almost every night and turning people away for the last several weeks.
So if there is some place you particularly want to stay in the coming weeks, you might want to check availability before you plan to arrive.

I saw a segment on TV news recently that RV sales are at an all time high. I know that our store is selling at record numbers.

As usual, I guess we are going against the grain. Have only had the rig out one time this year (so far). We do have three weeks planned (Beach, rally and Charleston, SC.) and possibly 3-4 weekend trips planned as well, just haven't reached that time of the year yet. It does seem like I am seeing more rigs and MH's on the nearby interstates this year.

We are currently in a nondescript location in Durham NC at Birchwood RV Park. All sites full. We were lucky to get in. We will be here until the 12th or 13th. Several here are patients at Duke as I am.

After a number of years of seeing parks disappear or in decline this is actually a good trend for the long run, but makes reservations something we'll have to start using more.

Sure am glad ours is parked for the summer. Right now gas in Michigan is running $4.29 and thats a killer pulling the 5er. Wonder if the oil and gas companies are ever going to run out of flimsy excuses for the increases? This time they are saying refineries are down--go figure. Happy Trails, Steve and Susie

According to the "Today" show this morning, Michigan officially has the highest fuel prices in the entire country at $4.23 per gallon, followed by (in order) Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Their source was AAA.

I had to stay up till midnight just to get a reservation 6months out for a popular state park here in Colorado. Working for a living and living for the weekends sucks. Come on retirement!!
