We have acouple both Garmans, To be honest all the brands in similar price ranges do mostly the same thing. We would chose one with the feature that allows you select that you are a big truck or Rv and that alows you to choose if you want to stay off toll roads. We also have a Lowrance XOG that does not do the big truck thing and we are going to replace it. It is great for marine use.

I use the Garmin 2720. The nice thing is that I can run a USB cable directly into my laptop and use the GPS with the 2009 Trailer Life CD. The Trailer Life CD has an interface with the Garmin and I can then use the laptop as a screen for my GPS unit. This lets me use the Trailer Life road maps and drill up or down and also see where I am at on the map.

I have a Tom Tom 720 & a Tom Tom 930. Both units are great for my purposes. I have mine mounted on a bean bag mount which sits on the edge of the dash to the right of the instrument cluster. This makes the touch screen very accessible. It doesn't leave a suction cup outline on your winshield either. In many parts of the country today, people are breaking in vehicles to steal GPS units. I know from experience as my Tom Tom 910 was stolen in a restaurant parking lot in Memphis last year. I now have an alarm on my truck and store the GPS out of sight.
