XM radio antenna mounting

Has anyone mounted an exterior XM antenna on their Montana? Sure could use some workable ideas.

Thanks

We have XM boombox with an adjustable antenna. It plays through the wall of our Monty. I have the XM home mount & same adjustable antenna that I am going to install inside of our entertainment center and hook up to the DVD/AM/FM amplifier. As for the antenna, I am going to try it on the top shelf. You'll have to orientate it to the south after each setup, but I think it will receive through the roof of the Monty OK, if it will receive through the walls.

I have the magnetic type used on a car I place on the window latch next to the soffa.
Works their most of the time. Some locations i run wire out the window and attach to the lock on water fill

I went a little different route. My entertainment center backs up to the toilet. I went into the basememt, found the vent pipe, drilled a 3/8ths inch hole in it as high up as I could, snaked the antenna wire down the vent pipe. I sealed the hole "very well". On the vent pipe cap on the roof,I used the sealant to stick a 1 1/4 inch washer ,for the magnetic mount. Then fished the wire to the xm docking station. Bill

I saw in the November issue of Good Sam's Highways magazine Tech Topics the writer suggested using velcro on the bottom of a XM satellie antenna and sticking it on the roof of your coach.

I agree with Ozz, it should work just fine on the top shelf of your entertainment center. It is worth a try, keeping it inside.

Hi Phil, I got my sat dish knobs at Ace Hardware. I would think you can get them at Lowes or Home Depot too.

Say hello to Cathy.

Well, I have installed my external XM radio antenna. I chose the Terk XM5 marine model due to its 30' cable. Pricing is about the same as other external types. Now I don't have to play "rabbit ears" with the previous indoor antenna. Will soon have pictures if anyone is interested.

We have the boom box for our XM and have found it works great with the antenna inside the coach. Just have to move it around to find the best reception. Right now it is setting on top of the valance over the window at the end of the sofa. Holiday music is now on channel 104. Great background music!
