I80 through Nebraska
I'm going to be pulling my 3400 from California to Omaha via I80. Met a man today at Yosemite who said that I80 through Nebraska was really rough. Anybody travel that way lately? Any information would be helpful. I was hoping for a nice smooth trip.

We traveled I80 back in June coming from California to I25 south to Denver w/o a problem. It's been a year before that trip but we usually travel I80 west from Illinois to visit our son and have not experienced any problems.

The worst places on I80 are between Cheyenne, Wyoming and Salt Lake City. That part through Nebraska is reasonably good roads. Keep in mind that ALL the interstates are old. The pavement changes every time you change counties.
The one place I would worry is that section between Sidney, Nebraska and Ogallala. The winds there can surprise you. Most of the overpasses actually have wind socks on them to show the wind strength.
Good luck on your trip.

As previously mentioned, none of the interstates are in great shape anymore. Once you've been thru Illinois the Nebraska stretch isn't bad at all.

We left Sacramento, Ca area 9-11-12 arrived Goshen, Indiana 9-16-12 on I-80 all the way. Rough roads - yes in areas. If possible, drive in the lane less traveled by trucks! That will be a trick, but as much as possible is manageable.
Wind is a factor at times. We drive 58-62 mph. Got thru the higher elevations in 4 days!!!

Earlier this year there was some construction, as usual on most roads. there is a lot of truck traffic and if all possible avoid the area between Grand Island and Omaha if there is a football game in Lincoln, the traffic is very heavy on those days. Stop in the omaha area and give us a call. Sent you a PM

If you are not in a hurry get off the interstate and drive US 30 across Nebraska. It parallels the Union Pacific Railroad, you know the first transcontinental railroad you read about in history books. You will be amazed at the number of trains you see.

It is always nice to get off the interstate and see the real United States, and it takes very little extra time.
