Splitting door knobs

2019 Montana High Country 331RL purchased new with extended warranty. This is our third season using this camper on a ‘permanent’ site in a North Carolina campground on the NC/VA border not in the mountains and not on the coast. Never had this happen before. When we started using our fifth wheel in mid-March of this year, I noticed the pantry and bathroom door knobs had split.

Any idea what might have caused this?

If it did happen to you, did Keystone offer to replace then?

This is not a difficult repair. Just not one I would have expected.

John

I've heard of shower surrounds splitting, vinyl floors splitting, fiberglass outside body splitting, but never a door knob. Agree, photo would be nice.

The only thing I can think of that would cause something like that is drastic temperature changes and the door knob made of at least two different metals, where each metal has a different shrink and expand temperature, and one gave way more than the other, stressed out the first and it cracked.

I understand about dissimilar metals. Neither the Mai bedroom door knob or the W/D closet door knob (also in the bedroom split. Good quality metal used. ☹️

Will supply picture shortly.
