Block Heater on '2005 Ford Diesel
Has anyone installed their own block heater cord on a 05 Ford? I order a cord since it did not come on the truck and am ready to install it. I got under it today and found the plug, but it went down hill from there. There is so much "stuff" under there, I could not figure out the best way to run the cord to the front. I did not think it would be that big of a job, but seems I was wrong. I was wondering if anyone else has done this task. The cord comes with a wrap on the cord and of course several plastic pegs for pinning it to the underbody. I just want to be sure I get it the approcximate general area. Thanks

O.V., I've not yet purchased the cord but am watching this thread closely. I'd appreciate if you'd post some tips on how you accomplished it when you get it done. Hopefully someone will be along to help you out.
Any chance of finding one on a lot with the cord factory installed so you could crawl under and look?

Steve that is an idea that I have alreaady thought about. I went buy the dealer today and of the 35 Super Dutys on hand, none, absolutely none, had the cord installed. Guess I will have to talk to a mechanic. I thought I would fix most anything, but this is a shame I can't run an electrical cord.

Were you looking in the front for the cord? On our '03 the cord was tied up behind the grille. I had to crawl under to find it and cut the tie. I'd bet an '05 with cord is the same way. Maybe you already checked that.
When I asked Ford about the cord they told me if it comes with the cord the window sticker will show option code -- I know it had the number '41'. I think it was "E41" but can't swear to that. They said 'no E41, no cord' - I'm assuming the E41 here.

2005 Block Heater Option:
All 2005 F-Series and Excursions with the 6.0 PowerStroke have a block heater installed on the engine. However, the cord for the block heater must be ordered as an option (code 41H). The cord is installed on vehicles originally sold in the following states: Alaska, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missori, North and South Dakota, and Wyoming.

41H, that's it!
Naturally, we were in an RV Park in Missouri when we bought this truck in Kansas. So we have to buy the cord. However, we do have the block heater without having an option for same so at least all I have to buy is the cord. And figure out how to install it.
