15amp plug with gfi at storage trip
Hi we have been trying to found out why our 2020 fifth wheel 3790RD keeps tripping the 15amp plug with gfi on it. if someone has had the same issue or knows the fix please let me know thanks.

For what ever reason, seems many RVs don't play well with GFI outlets.

Also, if it's like the three monty's we've had, that's not on it's own circuit. We've had that linked to the outside outlet and also the bathroom outlet so you should also check the other outlets connected and what's plugged into them.

Had the same problem, with my outside 15 amp outlet that I keep my fifth wheel plugged into at my home. It turned out that I left my electrical switch on my water heater when I drained it ,it burnt up the heating element . Causing it to go to ground ,and trip the GFI. Had a heck of time finding the problem. Could you possibly of done that.
I replaced the heating element, and all was well. I make sure now I turn that switch off before I drain the water heater .

I have been trying to figure this out couple months prior to winterizing, I have hook up the batteries to a tender without the trailer plugged in to keep batteries changed, seams to work fine but would like to just plug in outlet like most other rigs do there. thanks for response.

Are you the only one plugged into that circuit, my GFI finally got bad and when I plugged in it tripped. I replaced it , and had no other issues.

Yes and I ran into an electrical guy today said that might be that the trailer is not grounded so we are going to try that tomorrow

Some GFCI plugs are very sensitive and some just go bad over time. I would see if there is any way to eliminate the GFCI plug and just install a regular outlet. I have found at home that even trying to use a power tool like a skil saw on a GFCI plug is problematic. Nothing wrong with the saw or the circuit, the GFCI is just too sensitive.

The one I had problems with was 20 years old, and it just got too sensitive, finally replaced it last year. It was actually protecting 4 other outlets on that circuit. Up until last year, it never gave me any problems , its the one I have plugged my fifth wheel into for the past 14 years or so . Its very possible the OP just has a sensitive GFI , I would replace it , if it works for other things . Mine on occasion for whatever reason would trip when I plugged in my fifth wheel ,but I would reset it ,and it would remain on , until as said it just got too sensitive .It could of been because it tripped a few times causing it to go bad. The new one has not tripped at all for the past year .

A GFCI is NOT recommended for long circuits (100 ft) fluorescent lights and certain motors. Perhaps the combination of extension cord (maybe undersized, it should be 12ga at least 10ga is better) LED lights are also a problem.
I think it's a combination of things, just plug it into a non-gfci or change the receptacle to non gfci

electric motor and compressors always leak a minute amount of electricity to ground and will trip a gfi
