Well for the past 2 days of travel I have kept an eye on fuel costs at the interchanges where I get off for Flying J/Pilot. Using the discount card my fuel was cheaper then any of the other stations/truck stops near the interchange that I could see.

While you're beating a dead horse and never never never seeing big price differnces ... come on out to Emporia, Kansas this weekend ... you'll see a 25 cent a gallon difference between Flying J and another fuel stop right across the turnpike. Everyone has their comfort zone ... I'm 68' long and have little issue with saving 25 cents a gallon by having to turn the steering wheel a bit more to pull out of a fuel stop.

Checked GasBuddy and my Pilot app, guess this just shows me I can't trust the internet and these different sites because the cheapest diesel in your area at a regular gas station is $3.69 and your closest Pilot is selling it for $3.63 before the discount. Prices change constantly so maybe a few days ago Pilot was .25 different.

Gas Buddy is helpful. but it relies on individuals (John Q Public) in a given area to report in on fuel prices. Just drove thru Emporia a few hours ago ... diesel at Flying J $3.85 (charge card) before discounts ... Pilot at Ottawa, KS was $3.89 just off I-35. Both places within 1/2 mile had gas 20 - 24 cents cheaper at a major brand station with easy access to a 35 - 40' fiver. I notice you're on the other side of the Misissippi ... fuel supply must be different for youse guys.

Since it's a 50 mile drive to shop one way or the other we are frequently in Emporia, Ks and that Flying J consistently has ridiculously high prices. I have no idea what their thinking, but seldom see the pumps empty so I guess a lot of the public just doesn't care.

Now I know their app is out of date because they are showing $3.79 at the Emporia Flying-J (raised it a little yesterday) and they don't even show any Pilots on I-35 at Ottawa KS. And to make matter worse, GasBuddy shows the cheapest diesel in that whole area to be $3.69, which of course if you believe these apps would mean that if the $3.79 price includes your discount, then Pilot would be .10 more per gallon. I have not known these apps to be so wrong before, you must have tons of idiots in that area false reporting these prices all the time.

Now gas buddy is suspect. The prices listed on gas buddy for around here are right on. There are about 10 stations that I run by most every day and the prices are good. Why would anyone post false prices???

I have only known GasBuddy to be wrong on one other occasion, and that was down by Fort Myers Beach this winter. Some idiot kept reporting a Shell station (on Summerlin) had diesel at a certain price and that station had never even sold diesel. I thought maybe I was missing something so I even stopped and went inside and asked them about diesel and they said they had never had it. About every 2 or 3 weeks the same guy would report on that station again with the price of diesel, drove me crazy. He probably just had his stations mixed up.

I had a bunch of running around to do today and there I am checking gas buddy with every station I passed. No errors. I would like no know what is up with a few F J/pilot stations like the on on Rt 27, Hanes City Fl being consistently 20/30 or more cents higher than those around them and other FJ/pilot's.
there is also a shell on Rt 27 near our C.G that is also 20 /30 cents higher all the time Meanwhile a shell not 5 miles away is at a normal price....
from what I have been told a company station has the price set by the company were a independent station the price can be set by the owner so I am told by my friendly BP station. The stations look exactly alike but one can be a company station and the other independent.????

Love Pilot and FJ. No issues. Fill at tractor side, get 9 cents off on diesel, go inside, use kiosk to get receipt and on the road. Yes cheaper.

OOps ... may have been a Love's in Ottawa. I don't deny the convenience for some ... I'm just not paying the price here in Kansas.

Diesel Guy is correct. It's a Love's near Ottawa and two private truck stops up the road at Beto Junction.
