Just checked with my mechanic and was told that yes I could have my 24gal tank replaced with a 50gal one. The only problem is that it would cost about $1,500. I don't see that it is economical for me.

That seems way too high for that... I think you should find a different mechanic for this job.
24 gallons is definitely too small. I have a 38 gallon tank and would prefer to replace it than take up more room in the bed. I have sticker shock with my 38 so I'm not looking forward to the 50 gallon sticker shock.

I was quoted $2100 to replace my 30 gal OEM tank with a 54 gallon. I thought that was outrageous, especially when I installed a aux. 60 gallon in the bed for $450. Granted, it does take up some space, but now u can get them with the built in tool box and it will still fit under the taneau cover. There are always options.

I used a 50 gallon in bed from Transfer Flow in two of my short bed trucks. I was happy with the tanks that I had installed at the factory. My new ford does not have any external tanks but I do use two five gallon cans when I travel. Does the job and much cheaper. Now that I am weaned off extra capacity, I am satisfied with my setup. I do not tow all the time and I do like having access to my full short bed.

I have had two 45 gal under frame mount tanks installed in my chevy trucks (2005) and current. Transfer Flow is one of the most classy and professional companies I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I went to Chico to have the tanks installed on both occasions.

Installed a titan 52 gal replacement tank. OEM was 26 gal. I bought Titan because it is lighter than TF and needed to manage weight. Great investment and great install.
