How to wash your trailer- power washer?

Theres been discussion on the wide variety of soaps and washes, waxes etc. But what is the tool of choice? Hose sprayer, power washers? Mop?

Mr. Clean Autodry Machine. Unfortunately P&G has stopped producing it and the polymer soap and filters are becoming difficult to find.

I personally will never use a power washer. I just believe that there are to many nooks land cranny's that could become damaged by high powered sprays. Even when I use a nozzle, I never use it on full stream, but on a little bit of a spray.

I always use a fiber mit cloth or glove, and make sure it is clean. I used to use an "RV Brush," but I found small scratches on the finish so I do not use a brush anymore, except for the roof.

Like Wayne I would be hesitant to use a power washer, I use a lambs wool type head on an extension pole for the hight spots and a wash mitt down lower.

I do just like 8.1al. I read other places (forums, RV service websites) that power washers are not recommended because they can have too much force to some of the sensitive parts of the rig especially an accidently spray at some of the many vents on the rig.

The only place that I would use a power washer is on the tires and wheels. I would be concerned about blowing the decals off. As we know they aren't the best anyway.

Not only the decals, but the caulk and sealant...I would not use one.

We do have a power washer but on high pressure it would cut through the side of the camper. We do use it at times but at no pressure. We have brushes and gloves but the prefered method is let Helen do it.

i think I'll go with the soft brush and water thru the handle type wand and elbow grease.

I do see a lot of discussion on cleaners and waxes, but no discussion on whether the RV has the filon siding or Gel Coat.Gel coat has different needs than the filon doesn't it ?

I have a power wash but dont use it for my rv. I just use the car wash brush and a regular hose. I find that the powerwash doesnt clean as well the bucket and brush. It does however take me 2 hours or so to wash the whole thing.

Ours has been power washed a couple times without blemish. But I wouldn't recommend it. It's possible for a power washer to blow water past the seals around the slides.

We have experienced some thunderstorms that had to be equivalent to a power washer. Quartzsite this past January comes to mind right away.

The only time I power washed ours was when we got back from Alaska. Can you say "dirty"???? And "bug covered"??? Otherwise I use an extendable wand with a soft brush on it for the soaping part and the garden hose to rinse it off.

I would not use a power washer on the Montana, except for the wheels and tires, and it's too much trouble getting it out for that.

We just purchased our new to us 2008 Montana Mountaineer and so owners manual is still fresh in my mind, and it says no power washers.

In my pre-Monty life (and when I had more money) I had a SOB fairly high end 40'diesel pusher MH and in about 5 places (owners manual, basement sticker, dealership, etc..) I was told "in all caps" to never use a power washer, ever! All of the warnings stated that doing so dulls the gloss finish on the gel coat and will either errode or blast off the sealed edges of the graphics (whether paint or decal). I use an telescoping soft brush but I'm careful to clean it before and after because if not it will carry grit that is abrasive to the finish and decals. Either way, it seems like any tool or technique that is really deadly to dirt and bugs seems to also be deadly to the Monty. Well, with the possible exception of elbow grease (I hate that).

I like your idea but not necessarily with the dealer. I would rather watch someone else doing that type of work with my supervision of course!
