Pin weight

Close to purchasing a 08 2995rl but have some questions concerning my TV GVWR. Montana website shows the dry pin weight of the 2995rl to be 1725 lbs. You 2995RL owners out there, realistically what is your pin weight? Only DW and myself and we travel pretty light.
My TV is a 03 Dodge 2500HD, LB, CTD, Auto, Quad with Reese 16k hitch. I am concerned I will be over GVWR.
One dealer advised me that the average amount of weight a RVer carries is 1800 lbs. So if I put 1800 lbs in my 08 2995RL how much of that weight will be on the pin??
I need your input because I know the dealer will tell me anything to get me to buy. Thanks in advance for your input.

This subject has been visited before and I'm not sure I remember the number correctly. Think it to be 20-22% of the trailer's total weight is transfered to the pin. If you loaded the full 1800# into the trailer this would equate to 360# or so added to the pin. 1800# is a lot to add to a trailer.

Keep in mind that the location of the weight makes a huge difference. If a substantial portion is in the basement area or front of the unit then about half gets transferred to the pin. If the weight is in the rear, then it can actually lighten the pin. If you assume that the weight is evenly distributed, then 20% transfer to the pin is reasonable

All my weights are within the proper GVWR except the pin weight which is
700 lbs over! Montana designers should address the issue of were to put the axles according to the model they are putting on the frame. I’m sure that people with rear kitchens have a lighter pin weight.
I need weight in the rear and that is difficult to do. I plan to carry a ¾ tank of water to help counter the pin weight. Also have been trying to carry more weight in the rear cabinets and floor. I have not re-weighed since making these changes.
I have not had any problems as the truck bed only goes down about 3 inches when hooked up..

As noted many times on here, the 3/4 ton diesels will pull a house, but cannot remain within GVWR with the pin weight of our Montanas (and all the other stuff we like to carry in our trucks). Good example above by Dave...900 over.

My 2955Rl advertised pin weight is 1950#, and actual with lightly loaded trailer 2100#.

I think keystone never weighed a unit yet as its all by the engerners calactions that the wts come from .. take that new unit and have it weighed and you will find it 10% heaver than key says it is ,, sames goes for on the axels

My Pin weight is 2600 pounds on my 2955RL. I have a Washer/Dryer unit up in the closet and we do travel fairly heavy. All the basement storage adds to the pinweight and even with my freshwater tank almost full, I put 2600 pounds on the pin and 9700 pounds on my Montana's axles so this put me at 12300, just slightly over the Monty's GVWR.

My truck is an 05 SRW F350 with an 11200 GVWR. If it was a 9900 GVWR like many of the SRW 1 tons on the road,I would be over the truck's GVWR but I am OK, thanks to Ford's new specs.

Actually, I think they do consider axle placement as it affects overall balance and towability of the rig. If you notice, not all Montanas have the axle at the same location, percent of length-wise.

The rear kitchen models seem to have a heavier pinweight, not a lighter pinweight. The axles seem to be placed farther back to offset the weight in the rear. Our 2003 3295RK was listed in the specs with pinweight of 2300 lbs, heaviest of all 2003 Montanas other than the Big Sky 3295RK. Our actual trailered pinweight was 3,300.
