Trailer Life and Alaska

I know there have been a few folks planning on going to Alaska this summer. I just got my new Trailer Life magazine today in the mail, and there is a large portion of this months addition dedicated to going to Alaska. Many great websites and phone numbers for requesting information listed as well. Just thought I would pass that info along incase somebody who does not get the magazine would like to go get a copy.

Our Trailer Life came in two days ago. Cheryl tears into it immediately. I haven't had a chance to see it yet. Out of the clear blue last night she starts talking about Alaska... wanting to know if I had ever thought going there. I thought this strange, as this is a gal that has publicly vowed that once we retire, she would never get caught dead in any climate where the temp ever dropped below 80 in the winter, or anytime else.

Now I know where this all originated from... the Trailer Life mag.

Dave
You go to Alaska in the summer. Sometimes it is 80 depending on the weather. We were there last May and they were having unusally warm weather for that time of year. Of course by the fifth day it was rainy but still very enjoyable. We are going back - probasbly more than once.
Happy trails....................

Thanks Dave,
It is just in time for us. We are heading up there soon as the weather gets a litle warmer.
We'll be waiting for our copy (mail forwarding service)

The weather can get to 80F degrees in the summer. Don't fight the trip to Alaska--just enjoy it....

I'll have to read that tonight. She was really quite interested. Must be quite an appealing group of articles?

There was a few of them and alot of info! Be ready to take notes. =) I sure wish I was able to head up that way, maybe in a few years (when I retire). Only 32 more years to go!!!

Good luck with those 32 yrs, Dave. Sorry, but... Man! That depresses me to think about that! Sympathy pains?

Dave,
It is the very thought of 32 more years that makes me stop and think every time I go to buy something. Do I really need it? or would it be better to invest that money now and maybe... just maybe I could retire a year or two early and get on with becoming a snow bird in the winters and spend 6 solid months down at the lake. I must admit, I am living out my long term dream now through each of the members who fulltime and share their stories with us. I get to read evey day about something that I am so looking forward to.

That's a very good approach. I wish I would have had the opportunity at 28 to have the input the you are getting now.

Great insight, Montana Sky. If you can see the long term picture, your retirement years can start early and be so sweet.

Dave, instead of spending that money, invest it! Invest everything you can. Look for opportunities to make your money grow, even just a little. It all adds up. You do this well enough you may just be able to retire far sooner than 32 years.

That's what I've heard...

Cheryl and I never got the right input on finances (including our parents, unfortunately) until a couple years ago. Not impossible now to have a good retirement - just very tough. That's OK.

"You can get bitter, or you can get better."

We choose "better".

We always have our "Lottery" financial plan, right???
