H.John Kohl..Excellent post. I can say that because we have similar backrounds. I directed folks to how stuff works to get a better understanding of cell phone operation. another interestng discussion would be how the "cell system " works,How your signal is moved from cell to cell as you travel.

When we were in Cuiver River State Park in Troy, Mo. We had 1 to no signal. If we went through the trees to the road, about 50 feet from the Monty, we had a 2 bars. Bought a antenna for cell phones from Radio Shack for $45.00. Now, Inside the Monty I had 2 to 3 very strong bars and were able to connect to Internet and make all calls. So, Trees do block the signal.
