Name Change

We changed our name from billva to R&R-Rigged&Ready. Jeanne wanted something that just didn't represent me so the administrator was kind enough to offer to make the change and we accepted.

She hasn't posted a lot yet but she has been reading. Up to now she hasn't really been into computers, but this site has caught her attention so she will likely do some posting.

Both of you are welcome to post here, Bill and Jeanne. But you probably already know that. We look forward to hearing from Jeanne as well as from you.

Steve, Jeanne has always been a bit afraid of computers. However her new years resolution is to learn more about them. She is reading here and sending e-mails to her friends and family.

When she finds something she wants to write about I think she will.

Oh Steve, I have to add this. Tomorrow is the day we pick up our truck and I can't go, so Jeanne is going to go get the big truck by herself. So if she is willing to drive something that big by herself I think she will post here at some time or another.

Bill and Jeanne -

Glad to see you are both going to be posting. Terrie and I have found this forum to be informative, enlightening and fun. We especially like reading about the adventures of Steve/Vickie and Walt/Linda. I have found people having similar problems and have avoided problems by the posting of the people on this forum. Look forward to seeing your posts.

Thanks Ron, I do have to say though that we are complete novices. When we get the truck home then we have to get the hitch put on and pull our baby home to put in storage as we can't keep it at our house.

We'll keep you informed, but I don't think we make our first trip until later, but we will be living in it in June, July and part of August in Franklin NC and will get a flavor as to how we will adapt.

Thanks

Bill, as you start hitching and unhitching your rig, make yourself a checklist. After awhile you'll commit it to memory. But, once you start the process, don't let anyone interrupt you. Many of the mistakes I've made (and there have been many) have been when I "got out of my routine" and forgot something. It's a heart thumper when your wife says "what is that noise?" as you start pulling out of the park and you realize you forgot to put the landing gear up. Been there and was very lucky to just very slightly bend one (have to give it a bit of a shove to get it up into the tube now).

Also, if you search the archives there's a thread that is titled something about "confessions" or maybe it's "time to 'fess up" where many of us posted some of our bonehead mistakes. The idea was maybe it would be of value to new persons both so they could avoid the mistakes and also so they realize that no longer how long some of us have been doing this, we still sometimes screw things up. Royally, in my case.

Bill -

Steve is right on the checklist. I have one that I made that I laminated and keep above the visor in the truck. If you would like a copy, e-mail me and I will send it to you. Mine is two sided and covers hooking up, unhooking, etc. I found that Kinkos has a very heavy laminate that works really well. I have found that when I do things repetitively, I get in a routine. However, if for some reason you get out of routine, or someone else is helping, its easy to forget steps. If you want to go one step further, you can even use a wipe off pen to cross the items off as you do them. Just some things that have worked for us.

Ron, I just did send you and e-mail and I would love to have your check list.

Steve, thanks, I'll try to look that topic up.

You should have it now. If anyone else wants a copy, just send me an e-mail. It also helps when I use it without deviation and the copilot, she double checks me.
