Rentals

Hi all - Since we no longer have our Montana, we are finding out how difficult it is to find a place to locate in warm weather for January and February without paying an arm and a leg. It was always easy to locate a place, even this late in the season, when we were long timers with Monty in tow. Does anyone know of an RV park that has rentals for cabins, park models, etc for this coming Jan and Feb? We would prefer the Southeast, especially Central Florida. Carol, Jim and Sunshine Boylan

Florida in the winter is tough. Our park there where we have a permanent site has self contained cabins, very nice, at $124.00 per night, no weekly or monthly rates and they stay full. Park models and condos in surrounding areas are driven by owner pricing. Demand for units is high during the winter months. Recommend you check with a realty office handling seasonal rentals in areas you are looking at.

I started checking for some friends of ours last January in the Fort Myers Beach and Fort Myers area. They only wanted a couple weeks rental in a park model. The five or six numbers I called laughed at me when I told them I was calling only for a 2 week rental and for that year. They all rent them for 1 to 3 month minimum and at least one year in advance.

As someone already stated, I would start calling reality offices that specialize in rental units. If I wanted something for January and February I would start those calls immediately.

Maybe you should consider buying a place down there and renting it out the 10 months you're not there.

Jim, you did not mention what you consider an arm and a leg. Cross Creek in Arcadia has a rental listed on their web site. Cross Creek is a nice clean park with friendly residents. This will be our fifth winter here. http://www.crosscreekrv.com/forrent.html

The park near us in Arizona, Casa Grande RV Resort has rentals. Bud and Susie, snowbiz, rented one for a relative. I'm sure you could find something in this town, it's nearly all park models.

Jim, get the Villages rental phone number. There are tons of places there you can rent and a lot going on closeby.
