Putting ice in the black tank to "scrub" it?
This might be old news to some of you, but I stumbled onto this guys testing of tank flushing systems. It was an interesting test and the old "Ice down the toilet" method didn't fare too well. Seems it is a waste of time and money basically. It wasn't much better at cleaning the tank than just straight water. And, as you'll see in the video, he drove his test tank around in a manner that is absolutely impossible with a large 5th wheel.
Anyway, if you are interested, here is a link:

His first Sewer Solution video is interesting too, but the second video is much more realistic. I'll be interested in seeing the tank additives video when he makes it. He's kind of a one man RV Consumer's tester!
Here's the ice cube video: http://www.thefitrv.com/rv-tips/do-i...k-really-work/

Interesting demo with the internal sprayer. Looks like the best way to clean the black tank is multiple rinse cycles.

If I am going to spend $$ on ice, it is NOT going down the tank. Besides, seriously, don't really want it slamming around down there, knowing the issues related on this forum about holding tanks.

Aw, come on, coming from Michigan, you've heard the term "Black Ice" before. Now you know where it comes from!
