Battery ON/OFF

I have searched the posts and this has been posted before but. What Iam trying to find out is. Iam Full time a little diffrent than others we live in a really nice RV park Full time with elec. Sewer water and large propane tank hookups and have been sence Jan. we hardly move now. Till things are better for my daughter then it will be ON THE ROAD. So do I leave my battery hooked up when on power all the time on can I unhook it ? Should I run it on Batt some times to run it down ? I do check the water about evert 2-3 wks to keep it full of water as of now I havent had to add any water. Anyone else have any tips?

Not so different.... we are plugged in all the time. The new converter maintains 13.8 volts across the battery. Like you, we were careful for the first few months. We found we wern't using any water, so now we check the battery at least once every 3 months. As far as exerciseing the battery... we don't bother. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is watch your fluid level and don't sweat about it.

We have been hooked up for a year in one place and have only had to add water to the battery once. We keep the battery hooked up in case of power outage, then at least we have some lights.

If you have the IOTA DLS power converter there is an accessory module that plugs into the converter that makes it a three stage charger with the last stage being a float charge which won't boil off the water. The module can be had for about $25 and plugs into the converter

Master Tech is one of the IOTA distributers. They delivered the module to me within a few days.

Im not familiar with the Iota... our Montana has a Parralax ... power panel with breakers is in front, converter is attached to the rear. Its sold and installed as a unit.

Hope this helps.

The IOTA converter in our 2004 2955RL is located inside the cabinetry, directly behind the IOTA 12vdc and 120vac panels, and next to the furnace. I need to remove the return air grill (4 screws) for the furnace to see it.

I am not sure about your model; however, assume that the converter would be located very close to the 12vdc fuse panel.

Some IOTA converters have the voltage regulator built into them. Master Tech staff provided the following information concerning their identification:

"If the label on the unit reads DLS-55 and not DLS-55 w/1q4 then your unit is not equiped with that feature. You can contact Matertech @ 800 848-0558 for price and availability if you would like one."

By the way, Master Tech can also supply additional fuse adapters for your panel if you have extra fuse slots, but no wiring on the back side. Each adapter will provide the pigtail wiring for three more circuits.
