Surgical report from GGranch
Thank you to all that sent prayers and good wishes for Karens surgery. The Dr. did a really good job, even showed us pictures he captured from the video of the procedure. The hole in her lung was way too big to heal on its own and he was able to repair it. He also found two other "blisters" that he removed and sealed up. Other than pain from the procedure, Karen is doing very well and would like to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. She may come home by the end of the week if every holds their tongues just right. Thanks again for your support. Bob and Karen (Cookie too!)

As for the cause, they are vague. She has mild emphazima symptoms and smoked for many years. The Drs say this is normally seen in young, tall, thin, males. Her exact opposites. Ooops! Thanks again for the many prayers and thoughts. Bob

Bob,
About 45 years ago I had a series of collapsed lungs (11)over a two year period. It culminated in major surgery and I know, and can well sympathize with, what she is going through. The good news is the repair fixed the problem and I have had no problems since. From my point of view her prognosis is excellent. Please convey my regards.
Take care and be well-both of you

Karen is home at last! Eleven days in ICU is quite enough, thank you. She is recovering well. Regaining her strength by leaps and bounds. Still has a long way to go but we will make a full recovery. Poor thing looks like hamburger pretending to be a pincushion, what with all of the wounds caused by her treatment. Five incision sites, Four or Five IV holes, and many sores caused by her sensitivity to the tape used to hold everything together or in her. These are minor things though, the miracle is that she can have these procedures and recover so quickly. I can't imagine what CmdrDewey endured 45 years ago. Eleven episodes in two years and not have the thoroscopic techniques that are used today. Thanks again for all of the prayers and wishes. Bob & (finally) Karen

What a wonderful update to read. I too have found out how sensitive my skin is to all those tapes they use in the hospital. Tell Karen to take it easy and follow the doctors orders. She has been through a lot and the body need time to recovery. We will continue to pray for a fast and complete recovery.
