Montana 3000RK

Close to making a decision on a new 3000RK to replace my 2004 Cougar. Would appreciate any comments and feedback that might help me finalize the decision. Also, plan to pull with an 2004 Silverado, 2500HD Duramax/Allison, crew cab short bed. According to my intrepretation of the trailering limits, I don't see any problems with matching my truck with the 3000RK. Anyone have experience with pulling a Montana with a similarly configured truck? Thanks,

We got our 2006 3000RK in September of 05. We absolutely love it. The kitchen is great for cooking and just to have the counter space was important to us. The trash can area is the best. I could go on, but everyone has to choose which one fits them the best. We love ours!
Someone else will come along and tell you about the truck. Welcome to the forum!

I have a 3000RK, which we really love, which I pull with a 2005 2500HD DA, with shortbed. I have not had any problems towing up and down the mountains with it. I would get some type of slider hitch due to the shortbed. So far I haven't had to use my slider hitch yet, but better safe than sorry. We use our 3000RK 10 out of 12 months between the Northwest and the Southeast. Having said that, since we are almost fulltiming, we are thinking about getting a 3400 or a 3585 because of the triple slides. We keep tripping over the dog when she is sprawled across the floor. If we were only weekending or doing a few weeks at a time, the 3000RK would be great. We don't plan on trading it though for another year, at which time we will go to a 1 ton dually truck, besides the triple slide Monty. We have only been rving for two years, so I know there are some 3000RK owners with more experience than us. Good luck and enjoy.

3000RK is a nice rig...but you'll be over the GVWR of a 2500HD D/A. It will "pull" fine, but the pin weight alone will exceed the carrying capacity of that truck.

We have an 06 3000rk. We looked at many brands and floor plans and settled on the RK design as it suited our needs as a couple. We enjoy the feeling of having separate defined spaces so to speak. We love the kitchen layout and we also have a 90 pound German Shepard who travels with us. We lived in the RV full time for 6 months last year and we were fine. Love the trash bin access ..it is the simple things that make this unit so great.

WE have a 07 3000rk, DW loves the kitchen and the counter space. If you like to cook you'll like the room.

Sounds like you've got a perfect tow vehicle. Jump on in, the water is great!! Be sure to share your maiden voyage report with us. There ain't nothing like getting a new coach.

We have a 2006 3000RK and we love it. Some will say that a rear kitchen is a problem but we have not found this to be a concern. Just a hint or two, put a child lock in the drawer below the fridge or it will come open an since you can't see it your slide will crush the drawer as it has a tendency to come open. Also be sure that the fridge and freezer doors are secure as they also can be damaged by the slide. These are the only problems we have had and we love our Montana!!! Happy Trails
