Door

Has anyone had this problem? We just purchased a new 2020 3780 Montana. We mounted the doggy screen door saver and the long handle across the screen door, love the. Well we tried to close up and get ready to pull out. The steps go up but the door won’t close because of the extras on the screen door😩

I put those same accessories on my screen door. Had to be carefully positioned to allow the screen door to close. I recall trimming the attachment arms on the doggy door saver when I installed it. Took a bit of work but it wasn't too difficult.

I am pretty sure the OP has the steps that fold up inside the door rather than collapsing into the well under the door. I don't have this setup either but I can see where there might be a fitment issue.

We had one like yours on our other fifth wheel. This time we went with the one that looks like it has hearts on it. I appreciate your pictures but I don’t think we can make ours come in closer to the screen. My husband said we will just have to remove it every time. Did you modify the handle any?
Thanks again

Door Handle

No - the handle went ON without any problem. Just had to be careful where the screws were attached so they didn't protrude through on the back side. Pictures attached -

BTW.... Carl's right. My 2017 305RL has the stairs that fold up under the door. The doggy screen saver and auxiliary handle will probably interfere with the stairs that rotate up into the door opening.

Ours screws aren’t protruding and yes we do have the stairs that fold up. We will probably just have to remove the add ons every time we go somewhere.

screen door protector is a no-go

I went out to take a pic of my screen door protector - and then I remembered that I had the same problem. The door would not close. The grab handle works fine. In the pic you barely see the holes from the screws that held the screen door protector on the door. We got a new dog in January and have not had a chance to go camping with him due to the covids. He is a very energetic 2 yr old and I need to figure out something.

We had the same problem after having the new steps added on, so we opted for a thin piece of plexiglass over the lower screen. It works great. You still get the view and air circulation on the top of the door & the pups are happy getting to see out too.

I mentioned that to my hubby but he was worried about air flow. I’ll let him know what you said about that.
Thank you

Someone mentioned they got the other type screen protector. We had one of them on another Rv, I really like this one better. My husband said he can take it off when we travel. We are in Oregon 6 mos a yr and Arizona the other 6 so he wouldn’t have to remove it much

We use thin plexiglass to protect the screen also - works well.

I don't know if you guys saw this or not but Lippert announced a new product for their screen doors last fall. It is called the Screen Defender which is designed to fit their screen door and provide additional protection for the lower portion of the screen door.

It looks like they are finally available on LCI's website and on E-Trailer thought they are much cheaper on LCI's site.
