Can I tow a 3721RL w/F350
I'm considering an upgrade from my 2008 3585SA to a 2018 3721RL. I've never towed current fiver as I've been a seasonal camper in one spot. I keep looking at the towing specs and the more I look, the more confused I am. The 3721RL is rated at 12,885 gvw with 2840 lb. pin weight. Would this exceed the ability of a 2017 F350 Lariet Crewcab SRW 4x4 diesel shortbox 160"wb?

I have a 2016 3721RL GVW 16500 i tow with a 2017 F350 Lariet ext cab DRW 4x4 long bed little different truck but you should be fine

without looking at your door sticker, I have a similar truck and you should be good on payload and tow weight as well as max gross weight truck and trailer.

Yep, F350 in your description likely has 3000# plus payload so you will be legal but at the top of your ratings... I pulled 3950BR with 2017 F250 for several weeks and it felt pretty good.... feels way better with F350 DRW though.

I would be very careful with the SRW F350 the rear axle in the SRW F350 a Sterling 10.5 the rear axle in the DRW F350 is a Dana 80 a much heavier axle. There is nothing wrong with the Sterling it just doesn’t carry as much weight as the Dana.
I have disassembled both axles and they are different don’t let anyone tell you otherwise The F350 DRW and the F350 SRW are very different trucks. I work on both.

Thanks all,
I don't want a DRW with 8' box so I'd rather get a different rv than max out on weight. There are other options/models that weight much less. I'd just have to give up something, either way a compromise.

12,800 will not max you out. I'm at 14,075 and still have cargo room and gcwr room

That trailers dry weight is 12,855 lbs. Its GVWR is 16840 lbs. Fords tow/weight capacity ratings are confusing at best. from what I can decipher, your truck has a payload capacity of 2866-3000 lbs. The advertised pin weight of the trailer is 2840 lbs and could be more. You would have virtually no weight rating left for passengers/fuel/cargo in the truck.
That camper is 1280 lbs heavier that my 2011 3455sa witch I stated out towing with a 2011 Chevy 3500 SWR long bed CC . I did not like the feel of the camper pushing the truck around on mountainous roads. I now pull it with a 2014 GMC dually. The difference is night and day.
I think you are defiantly in Dually territory with that heavy trailer.

Without looking at all the numbers, I agree with Beeje. A 16840 lb. GVW is a lot for a SRW. Usually, a response to a question like yours is, if you already have the truck, try pulling with it and see if you are comfortable. But, in your case, you'd rather downsize the 5er than upgrade the truck. At the risk of sounding like the "weight police", I'd say better to downsize. 16k+, if that is the actual GVW, is a lot of weight on a SRW. You can bet the pin weight will go north from what's listed as you add stuff.

With everything based on the GCWR/GVWR and GAWR I guess the best thing to do is find a new F350 closely equipped as I would want it and look at the door sticker for specs. I found a link that lets me put in specs and it tells if your over/under.

It will pull just fine however you will probably be slightly over your payload if that concerns you. We just bought a 2017 F350 Lariat SRW (take delivery tomorrow) and the payload, based on door sticker, is just over 3400# with a GVWR of 11,400#. The payload is about 120# more than our 2011 F350 KR thanks to the aluminum body. Based on previous weigh-ins our pin wt is about 3000# and we were over GVWR by about 200#. Your trailer and pin wt will be heavier than mine I suspect. After adding hitch, myself, wife, dog and other stuff plus the Titan 55 Gal replacement tank I figure we will still be over by a couple of hundred #. I will play abit with how I load the trailer to reduce toungue wt but not a major concern. A long box DRW is just not practical for me.
My major concern is the 2" higher bed floor and 3" higher bed rails. I was pin high before. May have to replace the blocks under the trucks rear suspension or add blocks to the trailer Suspension. Always something.

Using the trailer GVWR of 16,840 and 23% as estimated pin weight that works out to 3,873 lbs for estimated, actual, pin weight.
So, yes you are in DRW territory. Unless you just tow the thing around empty.
However, this summer, spending 4 months in a campground in Colorado I saw more SWR trucks pulling large trailers, and almost all had air bags on the truck. So, will it pull it, yes.
But the guys that had moved from a smaller trailer to a bigger trailer with a SRW truck, moved to a bigger, heavier trailer were all towing with DRW trucks.
I have never pulled a 5th wheel with a SRW truck. My first 5th was a new one in '94 I pulled with a '94 DRW Ford. My current truck is in my sig below.

You should be within specs, I know I am, have a 2017 F350 SRW FX4 and towing a 3725 which is very similar to your stated floor plan, if you are nearing the pen weight max, and only you will know, I recommend to not load the front storage with heavy stuff. If you must carry heavy things in the front storage to many places and for many years/trips then maybe a dually. I think we should always be as easy as possible on the rear end, be it a dually or srw.

One more comment: After towing to and from the Fall Rally we do not need air-bags either, we travel with a level Montana, have the the pen box and hitch adjusted to achieve the level ride while maintaining ample clearance between the truck bed rails and Montana. My dealer said he would install Firestone air springs for me with no labor charge if I ever decided to put them on, but there is no need on the 2017 short wheel base F350 with 80 inch cargo bed towing the 3725RL.

My 2016 F350 6.7 short bed FX 4 has a payload rating of 3434. I pull a 2017 370BR and I'm within 350# of max.
