What would you do?

I have a 2020 Montana 3760FL. The kitchen slide was rubbing against the floor and put in a small gouge. Believe it or not, the service department at camping world has been great. They want to put in a new floor and keystone has OK'd it. So far they've done good work. Would you allow them to replace the floor or would you try to repair the gouges yourself? I've heard horror stories from solitude owners where the dealer stapled a new floor install which looked horrible! What to do???????

I've got the same problem. It was caused by staples poking through and gouging the floor as it slides in and out. Be aware the root problem may be in the slide, causing the gouges and not just a floor that needs replacing. Removing the slide may be required. I was out of warranty of course. I'm surprised you got the OK for warranty as the usual denial is debris in the way.

My first concern is CW doing the work. Doing the repair requires surgery to do it right. The quality of repair is always dependent upon the skill level of the person doing the work. Good repairmen work at bad shops and bad repairmen work at good shops. My advice would be to find a shop that only does repairs, not a dealer. Then I would have enough dialogue with them to get a good feel for their work, or walk. Congratulations on getting the factory to own up for the repair.

I'd call Keystone Customer service and express your concerns and see what they suggest. That's a big repair and you want it to be done right.

I have seen quite a few body repairs by CW in Myrtle Beach including one of my own. Ask to talk to the tech going to do the work and ask how he will proceed. I'd certainly let them do it.

I say let CW do it. After all you are getting it done for free. If it isn't right when they are done they can do it till it is right. I would have them find out how the floor got damaged in the first place. That needs to be fixed first.

Hello kcsimms. We also have a 2020 3760. We have a couple of bubbles in bedroom we took it in for in Nov. Was told this was done by debris. While inspecting the unit for pickup and opening the kitchen slide on refrigerator side it scratched the floor as we watched. Took it back for a claim on that and to argue about bedroom the last week of Feb. With Corvi19 things have been slow to get done. We are at CW Calera Al.. We were tool slide would have to come out to replace floor. Good luck Raven

Once you get it replaced or fixed, buy some of the protectors that fit under the slide to protect the floor.

I am pretty sure that Camping World technicians do not replace flooring, instead they subcontract a flooring specialist to come in and do the work. With that said absolutely let them do it.

How I know this is we have a 48' boat and I wanted all new floor coverings installed, cold not find anyone on my own. SO I called every single RV dealer in the area (including CW) and they all gave me references of the outside companies (guys) they use to do their flooring work. In my case I cold not have been happier. Doing small space floor covering is a specific skill that few are good at and that does not include RV technicians.

I watched a tech at CW remove a 16’ slide to repair a floor by himself. Not sure who did the floor covering but when asked he said removing and reinstalling including final adjustments took him about 4 hours. It took him about that long to replace the wooden floor

I have to agree with the others about letting CW do it as well as visiting with them to determine not only the process to replace the floor but also that they found and corrected the underlying issue that caused the damage in the 1st place. Good luck.

Have a 2019 Legacy. Same problem. We just live with it. Its a 2 inch gouge by the frig. We just throw a rug down over it and go outside and have fun. If you spend your time fixing every little thing it will eat uo your fun time. Happy travels

I'd have no concerns with them doing the repair. Once it's been acknowledged as a warranty issue, you can expect it to be fixed. Just document it in case there are problems down the road. I've had body work on my last Montana done by CW and it looked great. The only problem I've ever had was them not being able to duplicate something. This was back when there was little understanding about the crushed duct AC issue which wasn't CW's fault.

My floor was replaced in my unit after the kitchen slide took a bite out of it. The dealer that did mine did a great job, you can't tell it is not the original other than it is glued down now. I also put crazy carpets (the flat plastic sheets kids ride on in the snow) at each end of each slide now to protect the floor

The wheel on our bed came lose and gouge a huge area in the floor. Camping world replaced the flooring and never a problem in a year. It was still in warranty and Keystone ok'd it too.

CW replaced the floor in our Montana and did a wonderful job. It depends on the person doing the job. If it were me and while it was there I would let them repair it.
