Keep the rugs clean
I found this product, and have found that it protects the rugs from getting soiled when in a Dry camp area, Q-Site for one, and in wet weather. it sure beats the heck out of scrubbing the rug when you return from the long trip.
RV dealers also use this stuff at there shows to keep there trailers clean from the high foot trafic.

Why don't ya just take your shoes off? We always do, our carpet is like new, and we have a 2003 Montana. My sister and brother in law don't ever take their shoes off, and they have a newer 5th wheel, and their carpet is trashed. It's our home, and don't want to put new carpet in just because of a little thing that can be prevented so easily.

Not removing shoes may be due to Plantar Fascitus which requires arch support pretty consistently to prevent pain or cramps. Diabetics may also have issues.
Life is full of Tradeoffs. But perhaps health and comfort would come before carpet preservation.
To each their own!

Keep a pair of shoes for inside and one pair for outside. Swap when entering or leaving.

Good idea. Extra shoes! I was only speaking of people that are too lazy to bend over and don't care about their stuff. Not people that are genuinely handicapped or disabled.

I'm thinking a doormat, two step rugs, a small brush, and keeping a 14V Dustbuster handy could handle shoe cleaning, except when wet...?

I have that "shoes off at the door" rule too. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm guilty...sometimes I'm in too much of a hurry to take a few seconds to slip the shoes off and slip on my slippers.
We keep our slippers at the door inside. Larry, being a diabetic, has lost a significant amount of feeling in his legs and feet, so he can't roam around with nothing on his feet. The slippers are a quick change for him.
We have a patio rug, and a rubber mat with medium size holes in it at the bottom of the stairs (which is really only good for scraping mud off your shoes), the 3 outside steps have those clip on mat things, and we have a throw carpet at the top of the entry steps (inside).
Seems no matter the extent you go to to try and keep the dirt out, some always finds it's way in.
Our dealership carries that protector film, and I think I will invest in some.
TT2...thx for sharing the info!!

I'm lazy I guess on taking the shoes off of me and my company. and I dont have a mud room in my Monty YET.
I was thinking more when you camp in the desert or Q-Site a lot of dust out there.

I guess I'm just lazy too...rug outside the door for the shoes, entry area rug inside, and slippers on them. What makes this all work is using slip on shoes outside that I can put on without bending over. I have plenty as my work is inside peoples homes everyday...laces would kill me.
